ali
I've taken these points from the applicants package that is part of the attachements when you apply on line for a job. I haven't included everything just those points which may be most relevent. 1. Read all the information provided on line and consider the selection criteria and the job description. (there will be a number of attachements) There will be a contact person identified on the advert with phone and email numbers. 2. You have to provide sufficient information for your suitability against the work related requirements (selection criteria). Your CV is important and used by the selection panel for short lisiting. It needs to include details relating to the work related requirements and describe your work, key responsibilities, tasks, results and achievements. It is up to you to provide information that clearly informs the panel of your competitive suitability for the position. 3. It's important to determine from the advert if you are required to address the selection criteria in a separate statement or if you are only required to provide a cover letter and resume or CV. (most if not all require this and this is where UK applicants fall down). Your selection criteria statement should demonstrate by examples your competitive ability to meet the work related requirements. (The key word in the selection criteria will be 'demonstrate' - write the heading and write a couple of paragraphs for each criteria give example(s) of what you did, what the outcome was etc.). Failure to competitvely satisfy the work related requirements will exclude you from further consideration. 4. Apply for the job. Guest beki90
This is a great help.thanks so much. I receive my nursing registration in uk in January. I have been to Australia previously on a working holiday visa and would love to come back and work, possibly emigrate. What is the best and easiest way to go about this? Apply for graduate scheme or gain experience here first? Preferably I'd like to get to oz sooner!! rebekah
ali
Do apply for a graduate scheme, however, i know that in the last couple of years they've only had places for the Australia trained, so as an international graduate chances are pretty slim. I would look and apply for level 1 RN jobs - try and get a little experience and apply for your AHPRA registration, so that you have your letter of eligibility. Hi Ali, could you please give some advice when my wife should apply for APHRA registration, we have been granted a 190 visa last week, and hope to make the move over there in 2014. Any guidance would be greatly apprecisted Thanks
ali
It can take weeks or months with AHPRA it seems to get your registration. You get issued a letter of eligibility and have to then turn up in person at an AHPRA office to complete registration. If you're thinking of a recci before you move - I'd do it now so you can do the face to face bit on your recci. If you're not coming over until the end of 2014 then i'd say wait a bit

ali
I'd apply now then if it were me. I can't comment on the process, I was registered with NMBWA and my registration was automatically transfered. Renewal is easy, I just do that on line

Carlow
Ali thank your for your information it was very helpful! I have just finished applying for a nursing position on the government website. It is an open ended recruit pool closing 31st/12th/2014. To be honest I found the whole process very impersonal. I could never get through to the contact given in the advert either and he didn't respond to my email. Would you know how long I should expect to wait to hear back about the position,Will it be days, weeks or months? I got an automated email thanking me for my application but what happens next, im a bit baffled. Any advice you can give would be really appreciated :)
ali
Could be weeks or months to be honest. We used to review the pool every couple of months and again if we had any vancies coming up. Keep applying for other jobs too ... Good luck.

Tubs
Hi Everyone, My OH and I are planning to apply for a 489 Regional visa (i.e. Perth and Freemantle are no go for living and working). Could anyone advise on Adult Nurse jobs in regional WA? Searches on the WA Health website seem mostly to list pool vacancies, or perhaps roles that are too specialised for me. From what Ali seems to be saying, there might be quite a wait to get a call from them too! Other jobs searches on the net seem to suggest that adult jobs aren't in abundance right now (lots of MH and Midwifery posts though). Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated :-) Many thanks :-) Tubs p.s. (A bit about me, I've been qualified 15 months, and year on AMU and then 3 months Haematology/Oncology. By the time I've done APRHA & ANMAC plus DIAC we're hoping to be coming over next summer, so will have 2 years exp by then).
