Coco67
No we have decided on 489 after visiting Perth and looking at regional areas and making sure we would be able to get work there, so we told our Agent to lodged our EOI while we were still out there to be dropped a bombshell to say hubbys job title had been taken off the SOL list for WA but still on SA so she has also lodged an EOI for SA but hopefully as of 1 October it may go back on WA SOL List!!! Well we will get to some part of Australia in the next 6 months or so, how long did it take you guys to get your 489 Visa??
Caz Brady
Oh no! What does your hubby do? Mine is a tiler I remember the feeling when it was taken off the general list! We were thinking of SA it looks lovely too but hubs really wanted WA. Hope it works out for you! To get to the eoi took 3 years had to get trade papers, then the battle with TRA (that was a doozie), hubby did ielts 3 times and refused to do it again for 190 and time was against us for getting in before July 1st so once we decided to go for the 489 it was all fairly quick got SS and invitation to apply in about a week applied for visa on the 28th of June got it today! Coco67
My hubby is a Construction Site Manager here but title is Building Associate on List, I have just joined Poms in Adelaide and put a thread on for good work and school areas to research just in case and if worse comes to worse we will have to go there for 2 years get the PR and then move back to WA, as like yourselves time is against us and lots of changese happening all the time, we should have started in June when it was still on list and we would have nearly been there by now, but never mind, we will get there!! Did your hubby's job get put back on then and how long was it befroe it was back on? You will not be disappointed in Mandurah anyway, PM me if you have any questions or if you want any brochures or anything I have bought a load back I can send you, pm me your address. Caz Brady
Tiler was taken off the general so we had to get state sponsorship it never came off state list for wa, sa or act you should start a thread asking if anybody knows if occupations can go back on fairly quickly. There are always set backs to this process for us it was TRA and ielts, never won the ielts battle but we're getting there anyway! You'll find a way! Info would be great will send you a pm now ta

Philpom
Congrats on the visa. I know there is truck loads to thinks of and do before you go. Just noticed some of the other threads you're on and as you have a SS visa and given your budget is going to be relatively tight, have you put any thought in to going a bit further south to somewhere like Bunbury where the rents are cheaper. Just something to think about.

We've picked mandurah cause the dh is probably going to be self employed and subbing and working wherever he can, so it's just the most central of all of those regional areas and will cut down on some of the travelling! But haven't ruled anywhere out!
