  1. I used Kents for an interstate move. Very good, delivered on time, would recommend. I have moved quite a lot and have used Crown before, they are good as well but I would say their service is no better but they charge a lot more.
  2. Nope you have to take hospital cover to avoid that. If you are definately planning on having private cover, its is well worth taking it out in your first year here, we didnt thinking we would never be at that income limit and now have a 30% loading on premiums for 10 years! We pay $295 for 2 adults and one child for settled families cover.
  3. I dont know where you see that but I have Medibank and get $850 a year for major dental rising $50 per year for so many years(cant remember) and they pay 80% of treatment, certain treatment is fully covered. They have no limit on general dental
  4. We have Medibank, dont think they are the cheapest but good cover. They have a lot of what they call Members Choice dentists etc where you get a bigger amount covered. We have unlimited General Dental, Major dental is about $850 per year, Optical $280, I get a new pair of glasses and prescription sunglasses every year from Specsavers and dont pay anything as this is enough to cover. Also it all gets paid right away, the dentist etc just swipes your card and you pay the difference so no need to pay out huge amount and claim back. There is loads of stuff that we wont even use, I really need to go and get our policy looked at.
  5. Everyone pays the Medicare Levy which is 2% of your taxable income. What you are probably hearing about is the Medicare Levy surcharge. If you are a high earner, am not sure of the figure around $180000 (could be less) and you dont have Private Health cover you are charged an extra levy on top of the 2% so at tax time you end up shelling out around another $3000ish, which is about the same as you would pay in premiums so you are was well having the insurance and you have the benefit of Private Health care if you need it. Also, if you dont take a policy out within a year of you being here, you get charged an extra loading for every year you are over 31. So I didnt take it out within a year and I have 30% more on my premiums because of this.
  6. I have this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cabin-Max-Flight-Approved-Backpack/dp/B00APFZRL2/ref=sr_1_16?s=luggage&ie=UTF8&qid=1437522723&sr=1-16&keywords=Cabin+Max fitted all paperwork, folders, laptop and cable to charge, along with some toys and snacks and could still manage a handbag, another carryon bag with all the clothes, nappies, etc in it.
  7. Do you mean you only have 6 months left to validate? Why don't you come for a couple of weeks and buy yourself a lot more time
  8. That will cost you a fortune to go into furnished accommodation for that length of time! Would you not be better getting an unfurnished 6 months let if possible or a break lease and just buy the absolute basics to get you through. You get kitchen stuff etc cheap as.
  9. If your looking to be near Duncraig Secret Harbour would be at least an hour drive.
  10. I have never lived in the South, only the North so I like that, but only the older parts up to maybe Edgewater. Other people like the newer parts like Butler, tapping etc. Joondalup, Clarkson Jindalee is Pom Central. Anything above Butler is a building site. Best you come for a look yourself and then ask about specific suburbs.
  11. Thing is they are big girls and you have to let them make their choice and you do whats best for you.
  12. it's away out in the wilds! You be fine in Perth
  13. I think your only option will be either long daycare or family daycare and you have to pay for both. Long daycare is around $100 per day but if you are PR you may qualify for the rebate. you get a place at 4 year old Kindy free, think schools differ but my daughter used to go school hours but 2 days one week and 3 alternate weeks. They have to be 4 by 30th June on the year the are going so you will have missed out on this year so he won't get a place until the start of the school year in February.there may be other options but that is all I know
  14. But wereyou wearing your warm tights at the time?
  15. no need been licensed for a long time. If you advise the correct information to start with no one would have the need to jump on you as you say! Please feel free once you have your licence to come back and confirm that you didnt need to do the gap training.
  16. Some people just aren't willing to listen though! I have found that post, was posted in 2012, I think you will find that the requirements for licensing change on a regular basis and I would not go on information this old! I mean the other copied post, not this one
  17. No one has said anything about a fake licence! Only a restricted, how long ago was this post?
  18. I would check again, I would think that will just get you a licence as an Electrical Fitter and you still need to upgrade to a full licence by doing the supervised work. This is from the Licensing Board WA, http://www.commerce.wa.gov.au/sites/default/files/atoms/files/r098.pdf I would check direct with them rather than the RTO, some of them will tell you anything to get you to enrol.
  19. Not sure but I know a girl in Mandurah who renovates old furniture and sells it, maybe she might do that as well, look up Serendipity on FB
  20. ACRO do all the police checks in the UK now, when we first came over you just needed to apply at your local police station but now changed to this. this is what you need to do https://www.acro.police.uk/Police_Certificates_Online.aspx you can complete it online but you have to print it off and post it.
  21. Yes they do I just got one a few months ago for my citizenship. There is a question on the firm that's asks if you have lived in Scotland

    Property crash

oh come of it, every company is the same, even in the UK. There are a lot of people who have had a good run getting paid big wages for pushing paper around and just looking busy. If they didnt have the sense to put some of their big wages away when they were earning them, they will just need to come back down to earth and live like the rest of us! I used to work for a very large engineering company where there used to be a manager, assistant manager and the workers, over the years it ended up with about 5 levels of management, guess who was first to go when the redundancies came? not the workers on the shop floor anyway!
