You can bring it and it will work. You need to trick the broadband to thinking you are in UK. I use Unotv and get sky go bbc iplayer Netflix

I think you will always feel you are bonkers. We had never planned to move overseas. A job opportunity came up and we are two weeks in to Perth life and are loving it here. We had no friends and family here but you can meet people from here on the site. If you are not working you can volunteer, do a course or a hobby that will get you meeting people. It's certainly surreal but I can't imagine going back to UK at the moment.

I reckon they could do a reality tv show "the nut factor" with mums competing for the most neurotic behaviour. Mine would make the final 3. I'm sure she would win!

Thanks guys. I'm texting from emirates wifi! 3 hours from Dubai stopover. Glad I've not got the only awkward parents! They've really made me feel bad on the plane. Luckily the kids have been pretty well behaved so far!! The hearse thing sounds similar. My mum said it was like I was dead. She also said I'm abnormal going away for life. I said I've not touched Aussie land so how do I know how long I'll be. And I can't get another senior job in the UK easily. She said that needs to be my ambition to get another UK job to reunite the family. I really hate her at the moment.

Nice pic good luck with the trip. Only five hours before we are up for our flight. Just putting movies on iPads for our kids.

Gave her a hug. Says she loves me and that it should be my mission to return before she dies! Initially got temp accom in South Perth then in Yokine not far from the CBD.

Just finishing final evening. Mum is still hysterical that we are "breaking up" her perfect family and wants me to throw in my job and would rather me sign on as unemployed here as I don't want to go back to my previous job. Had to restrain myself from swearing. The kids and their cousins were in tears too. Not the best ending in the UK. It's amazing behaviour from my mum as she is flying to see us in 5 weeks. Designed to really maximise the guilt and stress! My poor cat is just finishing his 27 hour journey to Sydney quarantine. Hope he's ok as he was really angry when I left him. Just hope everything works out!

We are on a 9 am flight on Emirates. So shame we won't cross over. It would be nice to meet up with all the new January arrivals!

What flight are you taking Monday. We are also flying off on Monday morning with Emirates with an over night stop off in Dubai?
