Hi All, I visited Perth recently and used the time to visit some nursery's for my little girl. I fell in love with one but until we know where we will be living we cant commit to a nursery. What i found with some was that once my LG is in kindy (Jan 2016) they still charge near enough a full days fee for her to attend before and after school which at $85 a day adds up. Plus they don't all offer the alternate days as kindy is usually 2 days one week and 3 the next so we would have to pay for 3 days each week plus OSH care. Has anyone living in Perth had an au pair? Im wondering if this would be better as it will be more flexible and tailored to our needs. The only thing i worry about is what my LG would get from it educationally? Any help on this would be great? KatieLou

Hi JasonM, I haven't used them personally but my Auntie who lives in Aus used them to ship some items she'd bought in the UK and she was very impressed with them. Said she couldn't fault them for service and her items arrived earlier than expected. KatieLou

Hi LoopyLauren, We are taking pretty much everything. I'm trying to have a good sort through and get rid of stuff we dont use/ need. Originally we had 638 cft but removed the wardrobes from the main bedroom as they are very big so we went down to around 590 cft. Hope this helps Katie x

So this time in two weeks my house will of been packed up and on its merry way! I have been sorting through things and getting rid of things we don't want or need but I'm finding it really hard to cope with the fact I can't actually pack anything! If you were walk in my house you wouldn't think it would be packed away and empty in two weeks time. Did anyone else find it frustrating not being able to just pack up and sort things ready for the move? Katie

We settled on using Groupage instead of a full 20ft and managed to get that for around £3k + insurance. The house is being packed up on the 2nd May. All seems real now!

HELP! Visting Partner on a WHV with a dependant
KatieLou replied to KatieLou's topic in Visas and Migration
Hi gar374, I think the that is half the problem with immigration, how things are interpreted. One person says the opposite to another. I did call immigration though and they have told me that unfortunately if my daughter does visit Australia then my OH will be in breach of his conditions. So the plan is to wait and see if the visa in granted in the next 6 weeks and if not either move flights around or persue the road of my OH terminating his WHV and moving onto a tourist visa until the 457 is granted. -

They are already set up to sponsor so I'm hoping it will be fairly quick. -
HELP! Visting Partner on a WHV with a dependant

Thank you for you replay dxboz, I feared it would be correct. My only hope is that the 457 visa is granted asap. My OH is going to speak to our agent tomorrow and see what we can do. -
Hi All, I am in panic mode at the moment as i have just read on another forum that me and my daughter cannot visit my partner in Australia while he is on a WHV. We have had a flight booked for months and are due to fly out on the 25th March. I have applied for our eVisitor visa and my daughters has been granted, I am still waiting on mine to come back. Will us being in the country breach his visa conditions? We are in the process of getting a 457 visa in which we are both listed as dependants. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Katie

Thanks Lauren, it is hard work but like you say it'll all be worth it in the end. Just cant wait to be back together as a family. The sooner the visa is granted the better :-) It is a massive help that he has a job already as it takes the pressure off when we get there. It will mean we have a more time to get ourselves sorted out before I return to work. Good Luck with the job hunting

Hi All, we were hoping to move over in June/July just waiting on our visa being finallised, so it may become more aug/sept time depending on how long it takes. My OH is already in Perth working while me and our 3 yr old daughter remain in England. He has been there 6 months now. Im going to wait till i get out there to find a job, actually quite nervous about it [emoji16] Tigerbalm it'll get easier once your in a routine and past the first few weeks. We talk everyday and message all the time. Have apps like viber make it so much easier to keep in touch throughout the day. Katie

Thank you all for your replies. I have done the rounds and asked for quotes. Personally I think this is the the worst part about the move [emoji20]

Thats sounds similar to what we will need to take with us. With the addition of some of my daughters things. Like Pram etc. I think i might look at a partial container rather than a full one to save on costs. Thank you

Hi Raychelsb, Thank you for your reply. My partner did the quote and as far as I'm aware it was done as door to port. He is currently working in Australia for a freight company so was hoping he would be able to collect himself from the port in Freo and store the container on the works yard as we will be living with family until we are able to get our own place. All the packing would of been done by myself so maybe that's where the price differnce comes from. Can i ask what you roughly packed up into 550 cubic feet? We have a small 2 bed house to pack up and ship. Katie

Hi, I just looking for a bit of advice, We are hoping to move to Australia around June 2015 and have started looking at shipping costs. I have contacted a couple of companies for quotes and they have come back with big differences in price. We had one at £1300 for a full 20ft container and then another at £2700 for exactly the same thing. I don't want to just jump into the cheaper one as it seems a bit to good to be true, can anyone tell me from experience what they have paid for a 20ft container door to port? Thanks Katie

Hi DyLeb, We dont have visas yet as we are still at the planning stage. I want to be fully aware of all the costs before we make a decision. I hold qualifications in accounting so I am eligible to apply for the 189 independant visa and my partner and child will be 2nd/3rd applicants. Kate

Hello Everyone, I am new here and trying to get a bit of advice. My partner and I have been considering a move to perth with our 18 month old daughter. I have been trying to find a bit of a checklist list of costs we need to consider once we move to perth, we are lucky enough that we have relitives to stay with for a while so housing costs aren't an immediate issue. Its more the health costs, insurnaces and other forgotten things. Does anyone now of a good site that runs through these things? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kate
