  1. Hi Jo36, Cleaning of the vehicles we just gave the car and van a wash ourself, knowing they will still catch you here. We shipped the car and van in one 40ft container, however with John Mason if we did put household items in the container or load the van with items there was going to be a double customs charge from john mason-for what reason i don't know (guess just to make more money). Only ship the vehicle if its got sentimental value, special mods to the vehicle or near new but owned for a year.
  2. Hi Everyone, Just wanted to give an update on shipping your car/van and the process involved. We have now been in perth for just over 3 months and finally today the car and van were registered and given number plates! Its not a long process but its worth it as it is your beloved car. Shipping: Shipped the car and van with John Mason in a 40ft Container. Docked: Ship docked at fremantle, car were removed from container and went through Quarantine. quarantine failed the car as many said they would and ended up paying $950 for each vehicle! Once the cars were cleaned, quarantine rechecked the car and passed. We had to apply for a temporary move permit to move the car from the warehouse of the shippers and either bring it home or if you have booked in advance the testing station. We brought the car home as our appointment for the inspection was the next day. Arrived at the Inspection Centre in Osborne Park, it all went fine but failed on not having a Compliance plate sticker. Which is normal. Once the car has been inspected your given a report and then you need to contact Niddre Name Plates in Victoria for a compliance plate, this costs $67.00. You will need to give the Personal Import Certificate number and report number. This normally takes 3-4 days to come. Once this came, we again applied for another temp move permit to take the car to the inspection centre for them to affix the sticker, you don't need to make an appointment for this. Then they give you another report to say the vehicle has passed!! FINALLY! You then need to pay registration fee and third party personal cover-essentially road tax in the UK. Once this has been paid you will be issued with plates, screw this to the car and away you go!! Don't forget contact insurance providers to insure the car once it has been cleared from quarantine. Not many insurers cover import vehicles but we got a good deal with Shannons Insurance. It is a lot cheaper than UK!! Hope this helps all that are in the process or are looking to ship your vehicles over! Indi

    Crown V John Mason

Hi all, We have finally chosen John Mason! Finally!lol they are coming on 9-10th dec to pack our first container of three. Will keep you guys updated Thanks Indi
  7. Hi all, If one can shed any light on this topic. I am currently deciding who to go with to ship over our household goods, business goods and vehicles. I am stuck who to choose between John Mason or Crown Relocations. They are both similar priced and just want to hear about your recommendations of either company. I felt happy with both representatives and their service. I am slightly swayed with Crown as they have there own office in Perth, however one of our family members used John Mason and couldn't fault them and another used Crown and could fault them! Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks Indi
