Thanks for the quick reply Bean! I think my profession is covered under Petroleum Engineer. That's quite a wide ranging category so I guess that covers all offshore engineers?... Cheers, Davy

Hi All, My wife and I would like to emigrate to Perth from UK with our baby daughter to start our new life down under. I work offshore for a global (Dutch!) oil and gas operator and internal opportunities have not been forthcoming, so we've decided to go it alone. So far the only jobs I've come across are for contractor/consultant positions, so company sponsorship doesn't look to be an option. Does anyone have any experience of this? Would we be able to emigrate to Australia as a family with me working as a consultant? Could anyone recommend a good agent to help with visas? I also realise the tax situation will be quite complex but guess that's a battle for further along the line! Any help/advice/guidance would be very gratefully received!
