  1. We hope to be there too, work permitting. 4 of us
  2. Lovely to meet some of you - @Deb sorry we didn't manage to have a chat. I blame my 1 year old and 2 year old plus we'd had a tough morning post vaccinations :-) Catch you during another meet up x
  3. Thanks @beandownunder. It's so hard to get around everyone especially as we had our one year old and two year old in tow. Hope you guys enjoy the rest of your time in Perth. xx
  4. We have personally found Coles slightly cheaper for what we buy there. We also go to Farmer Jacks for fruit, veg and bulk buying meat, which is much cheaper.
  5. Our girls are 1 and 2 and a half. Only 17 months between them so it has been challenging at times but much easier now my youngest is more mobile. They are adjusting really well, especially my 1 year old. My eldest does ask for her grandparents and our house every so often but I'm sure she will be much happier once our container arrives and we set up home properly. It's tough living out of suitcases but keeps them active and outdoors a lot has helped.
  6. looking around woodvale, kingsley and greenwood area as close to the train station and less than 30 minutes to swan valley. Got two more house viewings on Monday so fingers crossed. X
  7. Can't quite believe we've only been here just over a week! Here's a bit of a rundown on what we've managed to get done so far... we've sorted bank accounts, savings accounts etc, enrolled with Medicare, visited my new place of work I start at on Tuesday, sorted out phone contracts, registered with Centrelink, bought laptop, printer GPS and car, sorted out health insurance, car insurance and breakdown insurance, met up with some fellow Perth Poms and family friends, visited a local childcare centre, bought car seats for the girls, visited the doctors and sorted out the girls' catch up vaccinations, viewed a few rental houses around Kingsley/Greenwood, sorted out a part time job for my hubby in Swan Valley (he's taking 6 months off full time to settle the girls) and done a lot of sightseeing (Hillarys Boat Harbour, Pinnaroo Valley Park, Whiteman Park, Swan Valley, Mullaloo Beach)... oh and we've drank our fair share of good coffee and wine... We already feel at home here and absolutely love watching the girls enjoy the outdoors way of life here. They have settled in pretty well so far too. All in all a fantastic first week!
  8. We ended up at john Hughes too, excellent service and found exactly what we were looking for.
  9. Hi guys! Sorry for the late reply. It has been another hectic day...bought a new car and new phones as well as a quick stop at kings park and also at Pinneroo valley park to see the kangaroos, which Ava loved. Yes will see you guys tomorrow! Just look out for the two slightly jet lagged 30 year olds with a 1 year old and 2 year old in tow
  10. Currently in terminal 2 London Heathrow. One flight down two to go but we just found a soft play airside!! The girls are in their element...now if they could just arrange softplays in every airport then flying would be much easier :-)
  11. Hi, we opened bank accounts up with commonwealth and arrive tomorrow. Below are contact details of Elizabeth who works in migrant banking and who has been really efficient at responding to us prior to arrival. Elizabeth Shepherd Migrant Banking Specialist 150 St Georges Terrace (6000-000) Ground Floor 150 St Georges Tce Perth, W.A. 6000 P: 08 6229 0771 F: 08 6229 0789 E: migrantbankingwa@cba.com.au hope this helps
  12. Never thought this moment would actually arrive....4 years of dreaming, 2 years of planning and soooo many goodbyes! The girls are asleep in the connecting room and the alarms are set for 3.45am. Glad we decided to stay at the airport hotel and that the goodbyes are now done. Now we just need to survive our flights with a 1 year old and 2 year old in tow. Just keep reminding myself it's only one way and the girls will be much older when we fly again next. Now for a rather large glass of wine, some maltesers, bit of eastenders and to update my blog and then an early night. Thanks to all of you for your advice and help along our journey, this forum has been a great source of information and we will keep you posted on our first few weeks out there. Looking forward to meeting some of you at the end up in a few weeks. Cheers! Em
  13. Hey debs. Defo send me a message once you get out here, I'm 30 and fly out tomorrow!! Eeeek! I have a one year old and two year old as well as the hubby coming with me. My husband is a marathon runner and I love cycling and running too. Love going out for girly catch ups, coffees, cocktails in town. We are also both well travelled and can't quite believe we fly tomorrow! See you over there!
