  1. Hi all, I just an update.. Hubby has landed a kitchen manager job at Dome . He followed the site members advise and called and followed through the applications. He has worked there for 2 weeks and has received his first pay on oz.. Now it feels real .. Thank you all for the support
  2. Hi Lou, Hubby hasn't been to many agencies yet. Only been sending applications to employers online via seek, indeed, wa jobs etc., He used to work as a Head Chef in UK. Continental and European cuisines. We sure would be interested to meet up. I will ask hubby to call the employers and follow up the applications. Fingers crossed !! vishva
  3. Hi, I applied for the visa few days after the baby was born. I was on maternity leave. I am a nurse too. I am still on maternity leave according to nhs. My manager told me to give resignation during the end of the maternity period as they are not allowed to ask before the end. Some policy in my hospital . I have Just moved to perth. My maternity leave never had any impact on my application. Gud luck. PS: But if you make a move during your maternity leave, they will count your experience till the last day at work in Oz.
  4. Hi Miss Rose, I have got AHPRA. Have registered with WANA agency. Awaiting work with children's check. Hopefully will get some shifts after that. Both our profiles are in seek. Fingers crossed. It is my second migration. I was trained in India originally. Moved to UK with 4 yrs Medical experience after marriage. UK NMC was more complicated than AHPRA. Finished everything and finally felt settled in UK. But hubby always had a pull towards OZ. So finally after my citizenship ceremony in UK, I agreed to try for Oz. after getting ANMAC and AHPRA in 6 weeks, skill select in 1 week and getting direct grant of 189 visa within 2 days of application, Oz visa process was a breeze. We felt very lucky. Still do. But just as the savings disappear and no vacancies on board, it is very scary. Especially now having a bubba to feed to, I worry too much. I have been a silent guest reader of Perth poms and Poms in Oz for few years. It was today I registered to post for the first time. I have always been hoping to write a dream came true post. It is a bit disappointing to write my first post like this. But having some where to turn to, I am very greatful for this site and members. Hubby who was the driving force behind the move is missing UK already which is making me lose my confidence even more. Hopefully things will fall into place
  5. Hi all, Landed in Perth a few weeks ago me hubby and 10 month old. I am a registered nurse with 4 yrs surgical experience in UK. So far no luck even finding a job vacancy to apply. Landing during job freeze didn't help either. Hubby a reputed head chef in UK is even struggling to find a job. He has applied for around 50 jobs with no response yet. All savings from sale of house is melting away. Had to give 6 months rent in advance to secure rental. It took a big chunk of around 15K off the savings. And managed to get a very old car for 6K. Feeling really down. Worried how we are going to manage in few months down the line. Just looking for words of wisdom.
