Sounds good , do you want a lift?

See you there!

Sounds good, I'll be there. I'll go early for a little shop, I may just have had a 40 ft container arrive from England rammed with every utensil known to man but I can't leave IKEA empty handed!

Yes , IKEA has become my second home recently because we move in to our house on Thursday but our container could be another few weeks so we've been stocking up on essentials! -
My container arrives to freemantle on the 6 th and I'm hoping it won't be delivered too long after but who knows? We're in Churchlands so if your not in a rush you're welcome to some of mine. We have a 40 ft arriving and Crowns packing man certainly went to town on the amount of packing material they used. How much do you want?

Sounds like my sort of thing, thanks for the invite, a bit of exercise and a good natter! Only been here 2 weeks so it will be great to pick your brains. Moving to Churchlands this week so I don't think I'm far away! See you then! -
[h=2] Short term furnished rental and car hire[/h] Hi, came out to Perth a couple of weeks ago(I will post more about that when I get time) and we are staying at a property called Sea Breeze in Mindarie .We rented the house from a very helpful lady called Kim Willets .The house is in a good spot by the shops and about a 15 minute walk to Mindarie harbour. The house is beautiful and much better than I had hoped . All the things we needed were in the house , as all we came with was clothes and shoes . The kids are in the lovely pool . As with most Australian rentals you have to pay up front plus a bond , so it is always a bit of a worry wether the owner is bonafide so I would recommend looking at this ladies rentals. Also she put us on to Mindarie car hire .They have been excellent ,we had a few cases so in with the deal they picked us up from the airport in a people carrier and drop us to the rental and even gave us the keys to the rental ,arranged by Kim . The hire car we had booked was there waiting for us and they sorted us out with a sat nav ( invaluable) and a WA legal booster seat .At least we could get used to driving on strange roads in a quiet suburb .Last time I hired a car from hertz at the airport , but then you have to drive on big , complicated roads straight away .I have posted this because after all the stress of containers and a long flight if the house and transport is difficult it can really stress you out .This way you get dropped off and then you can relax or go for a nap before tackling the unfamiliar roads .hope it is of help.

Oh god, it sounds like an Apprentice type shopping list to see if you can pass the test. I've got to buy it times three so better warn other half to except a sizeable bill!
-
That is brilliant , thank you . I also have a daughter starting year one so I'll keep you informed of our progress. It would be great if they ended up in the same class, two new English girls together. Don't suppose you can remember which days the uniform shop opens, do you?

Well we just put our application in on............the Churchlands house so all being well the kids should be enrolled in Churchlands Primary next week ready for starting after half term. Now I've just got the snakes to keep an eye out for after being informed Herdmans wildlife sanctuary has the largest collection of Tiger snakes in an Australian wetland!

Well we took the advise given and visited all the schools. We liked that Duncraig high School were building a brand new block for years 7&8 , the teacher that showed us around was really friendly and I was all for the Hilary's house but then when I asked her what school her children attended, she said Churchlands. We then visited Churchlands and were blown away, it's facilities were brilliant and the results are amazing. The primary school was also very impressive but had a friendly feel about it. The kids all want the house overlooking Hilary's but I'm thinking education is far more important than the decor of a house so I think we are getting close to a decision ! I'll keep you updated!

Gosh you are doing well, we also arrived 8 days ago and are still undecided between Sorrento and Churchlands so no house or school sorted yet. Still driving hire car because we haven't had chance to look at buying a car yet. Also getting excited about the container arriving, just hope we have sorted a house before it arrives!

Thanks everyone for your input, I think you're right, looking around both schools to work out which one has the best feel about it, is probably the way to go! We are spending the afternoon at Hilary's today so that may help us decide one way or the other! Loving the sun!

Thanks for commenting its a big decision to make and not helped by the fact before we came I was all for Churchlands( due to the school) but now I'm here I'm leaning towards Hilary's ( for the nicer house ) . Not helped by my husband thinking the house isn't as important as the education but he will be out working most of the time so the dated interior probably won't bother him as much!

We finally arrived in Perth 5 days ago ( will do long report when I get chance ) and have been speeding all day every day looking for suitable rentals. Think I've narrowed it down to two. The first is a house in Churchlands so great school for the kids but the house is quite dated and tired. The next is in Hilary's so bigger and more modern and I believe catchment for Duncraig high school. Any advise would be welcome on both schools and areas. I have a 6,8 and 11 years old so primary and senior schools are required. I'm going around in circles trying to decide so please help me! Glad to see the sun is now shining, I was starting to think I'd come to the wrong country!

It's evil stuff isn't it! I think we went a bit OTT with the cleaning according to the packers but then again I did get my husband to Milton sterilising fluid over one hundred pairs of shoes! We have arrived now to terrible over night storms and I will post my arrival report when I get a chance! Good luck with the move!

Wow, and I thought I was having a stressful time. Good luck with the new job. It will interesting to hear how things go at the other end because the shipping companies all seem to put everyone off a self pack by saying customs will go over everything with a fine tooth comb. We fly to Dubai today so all very excited!

We have a four week furnished rental in Mindarie but after that who knows? How about you?

I'm not the only crazy one then?
