  1. Can be within a couple of days depending upon your occupation
  2. Depends on your occupation, if you are lucky you may have a choice of assessing bodies and some are much faster than others, check all of your options
  3. Once invited, you apply, pay, lodge docs and then wait for CO and decision. You can organise medicals via Immiaccount once you have paid
  4. Yes, that is pretty much it. Just make sure you lodge within the designated time frame
  5. From 1st July 2016, holders of WHV will no longer get the tax free exemption of $18200. The Budget announced that they will be liable for tax on every dollar they earn
  6. Yes but only marginally $3600 primary app $1800 secondary apps over 18 $900 under 18s
  7. Ali, thats exactly why an employer should go for a 187. The employee then has a two year commitment to the employer, but suits both parties, the applicant gets PR and job security for 2 years (not bad in the current economic situation) and the employer gets continuity of service, win win situation. On a 457 you can just get a new sponsor and up and go, therefore wasting a lot of money for the sponsor. I have recently been lodging a lot of 187's for nurses on 457's as the employer understands that they do not want to lose their well trained staff, some of which they have gone to great expense to recruit from the UK, Philippines etc and they have also invested a lot of time/money in staff development. All parties are delighted with the 187 commitment.
  8. Martin you only have 6months left on your 417. Go and do your regional asap so you have a second year under your belt. Dont make the common mistake and leave it to the last minute and then not be able to find work.
  9. I agree with you portlauney, some gloomy times ahead with the job market. Most days I am hearing of contracts being canx along with 457 visas. Anyone on a 457 visa should really start the ball rolling for 187/186 visas and secure themselves.
  10. Sorry kimmygo but I agree with the other members of the forum. It is currently very hard for an unknown migrant to come over and get a 457 sponsor. You wont be able to do a work trial as a tourist??? What about you or your husband enrolling in TAFE as a student, you can work 20 hours pw to support yourself and you may have more of a chance of gaining a sponsor thereafter if you have an Aussie qual
  11. Onour way, you should get your wifes employer to get her a 187 visa asap. They would have less liability as an employer with a 187 employee for 2 years than their responsibilities as a 457 sponsor, can not understand why more employers are not transferring staff to 187 once they have demonstrated that they meet the competencies for the position....
  12. I agree Very Stormy, some of the jobs on the SOL/CSOL still amaze me!
  13. verystormy is correct. you will not get an invitation as you need to be on SOL not CSOL if family sponsored. You will need to find a state who will want to sponsor you, we are not looking for GD's in WA at the moment. Alternatively you can get sponsored under ENS or 457, however I imagine that would be unlikely in WA at the moment as designers are being laid off due to economic decline in printing industry etc.
  14. Yesterday the Goverments attempt to scrap affordable family and carer visas was overturned. The Age Dependent Relative Visa, remaining Relative Visa. Carer Visa , Parent and Aged Parent visa categories have been reopened. Visas lodged between the 2 June and 25 September 2014 are invalid. Only new applications will be accepted. My advice is to apply quickly as I think the intention will be to stop these visas in the future.
  15. It will be up to your employer to decide whether or not they wish to add your girlfriend to your visa on a 457 You can not add her without their permission. If she is just a girlfriedn you can not add her on, she needs to be a defacto partner and you would have had to declare your defacto status in your previous application.
  16. Verystormy you should change your name to very wise!!! I agree, as an agent I have seen many migration marriage disasters! Also seen a lot of marriages fail due to the alcohol, people come here and become dependent upon the wine and beer every night! One of my clients in a terrible predicament as her partner (Who is the primary applicant) became violent and alcoholic, SPlit up, now trying to sort her visa out independently. Always amazed at the number of people who want to live in Australia but have never been! It is not all singlets, shorts and thongs!!! Jason, my advice is you check out the labour market here whilst holidaying as things are quietening down a lot. I am sure if you ring in advance, you would be able to get a tour of a school, especially as the new school year starts in Feb, schools will be doing many open days.
  17. International student is probably the only option but is costly in excess of $20K pa dependent upon the course however he will be able to support himself with the ability to work 20hrs pw
  18. Ouch portlauney the bill is more painful than the needles! I am sure it will be worth it when you start relaxing on holiday!
  19. Hi SusanFranko You may be better to be sponsored for a 187 as many occupations do not require a skills assessment if the ANZSCO criteria can be demonstrated
  20. Just spoken with Skilled Migration and the WASMOL list has just changed on the site but not the 2014/15, only 2013/14 This is due to be updated within the next 2-3 days following a review of the occupations.
  21. Make sure you provide full disclosure with your application and Form 80 with any copies of records, This will show up on your ACPO anyway
  22. Hello, I have emailed Gollywobbler directly. She was looking for me and I replied but havent heard anything back? Has anyone heard from her lately? If so, please get her to contact me. Gill, if you read this, I hope you are well x
  23. Maybe he could look at a further course to meet one of these occupations BUT he would then need to find a sports organisation to sponsor him. http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/Product+Lookup/1220.0~First+Edition,+Revision+1~Chapter~UNIT+GROUP+4523+Sports+Coaches,+Instructors+and+Officials Even then would only be eligible for 457/187 as would not pass a VETASSESS without one years post qual exp Also remember list may change next month!
  24. hi Davy Check the ANZSCO http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/Product+Lookup/1220.0~First+Edition,+Revision+1~Chapter~UNIT+GROUP+2336+Mining+Engineers
  25. Sarah as a dependent would probably have to wait about 5 years from time of lodgement before she could sponsor anyway!!!! partner visas currently taking around 9 months before approval then 2 years on temporary visa then 2 years as normally settled unless compelling and compassionate circumstances arrive?
