Not sure but you're right there doesn't seem to be too many of us and not heard whether John from moneycorp is still going to be hosting. @Ktee - have you heard from him? I sent him a private message ages ago but he hasn't responded

With children? I don't have any but it might be good for them to meet others in a similar boat. How does 2pm sound?

How does 21st May sound? Just looked at the map and this pub isn't too far off the motorway (jct 3 on M60) : https://cheshirelinetavern.wordpress.com/

life opportunities, outdoor lifestyle, low crime rate, climate, beaches, weird and wonderful creatures, it's a relatively new city in a relatively new country and has the flexibility to take risks because it doesn't have a long standing infrastructure, it's on the Indian ocean coast, it has penguin island, there's a number of companies investing and developing internet of things echnologies, it has its own barrier reef, you can go swimming with whale sharks, there seems to be a family valued culture, for just a few reasons.

Sounds like we have a plan. Is that suitable for John at moneycorp?

Thank you everyone, this is really helpful

Found these sites that might help (working out where to live & work at the least, fast broadband is vital for my business) http://www.itguyswa.com.au/how-to-get-high-speed-internet-in-perth/ https://www.mybroadband.communications.gov.au/ http://www.nbnco.com.au/corporate-information/media-centre/media-releases/wa-switches-onto-superfast-broadband.html

Hi folks, I'm doing some research into what attracts folks to WA/Perth and would really like to hear from you folks. Originally, I wanted to head to Queensland to be near the great barrier reef, but my skills assessment came back as Chief Information Officer, which wasn't on the SOL, but was on the WA list, and took the choice out of my hands. I'm very glad though and haven't looked back, as the more I've found out about the place, the more amazing the place seems and I can't wait to get there. The whole state has such a variety of landscapes, including it's own barrier reef, there look's to be quite a lot of culture and each suburb having it's own identity along with many community events bringing people together. I can't wait to get there and explore.

Push for visa-free migration bloc in Australia, UK, Canada and New Zealand
jorw replied to jorw's topic in News & Chat
From what I've read it looks quite popular with ppl from can, auz and NZ, UK not so much, but if the UK leaves Europe, could it be more likely? -
That sounds superb

Hi Katy, welcome to the forum. :ssign18:

My cousin has been in Melbourne for about a year and my Aunt said that she and her family were also finding it difficult making friends and the have found that the opportunities they had in England to make friends just weren't there. She gave the examples of waiting for her son to finish school and in the UK, the parents would be out of there cars and would wait together and they would chat and get to know each in the UK, whereas in Melbourne, the parents just waited in their cars. My cousins son plays a lot of sport and has joined a number of teams but there doesn't seem to be much meeting up of the players at anywhere other than practice or matches and he's struggled to make friends too (he's 12). Have you guys found this too?

Hi peeps, I've just had a very close call with a shipping company (Anglo Pacific) that tried to take £250 from my bank account for a deposit and not the agreed £50. :mad:Thankfully the bank didn't authorise the payment and a google search of them has brought up some very negative reviews. Phew! close call. This leaves me needing a new shipping company though and I'm kinda worried on choosing one. What shipping companies would you recommend and which ones would you avoid? Thank you

Hi Rob, I'm not there yet but my research has been for somewhere similar to what you're looking for. Scarborough ticked a lot of my boxes so might be worth checking out.

I don't have anywhere booked in just yet, and have said to the agency that I'll go anywhere so will wait and look forward to the surprise. Thank you for the offer of help, if you know of anyone looking, we can set up a skype call sooner and an introduction when I arrive in Oz. For sure, we'll get something in the diary for you to spill when I get there x

@Lisaharrison - I've booked a room on airbnb in Scarborough for the first week. I have no idea of where to make a more semi-permanent base though and will give a few areas a go. I've linked up with a house sitting company and hopefully that'll enable me to try a few areas out. What have been the stumbling blocks you've come across to meeting new peeps? I totally understand, the last 3 years I've been working as a contractor and, through the varying contract locations, have moved the length of the UK and even to France for months at a time. Starting out in a new place is daunting and meeting new people is terrifying, especially if being social doesn't come easy. I've met a lot of people and of the hundreds I've met over the last few years, I would consider 2 as friends who I have and will remain in touch with. As an adult, making friends is hard but you are trying so it can only mean that you will.
