Hi Lee
We've just moved to Melbourne from Perth and have a house in Tapping. It's a lovely area and even though it's a bit far from the CBD if you need to work there, Joondalup (which it is super close to) is self-contained so you don’t have any real need to go to the city for anything! There are lots of great schools, and it’s the only place (except Armadale, which isn’t that great apparently) to get a good range of proper English food for a reasonable price! If you’re looking for a place to rent, ours is available at the moment.
That’s actually what brought me to this forum, because I know mum has loads of English friends up that way and one mentioned this was where they got info when they decided to move to sunny old Perth. Unfortunately, we got duped into spending way more than we could afford on the place by a very persuasive salesman. We were only 21 and had stayed living with our folks to be able to buy it so we jumped at it, and then moved over to Melbourne for work and rented it out (stupidly thinking it would all be good). Prices are kinda flat at the moment (renting and selling) and we are getting really worried about it all. So I don’t know if I’m allowed to post about it here, but if anyone is looking I will happily give you more details it’s a 3x2.5 opposite a park and close to all the right stuff, and we are happy to allow pets (and kids ).
Anyway, good luck with your house hunting and have a lovely time in Perth!
Best wishes
Sally
