can anyone who has successfully completed the process for a 189 skilled visa and used an agent to do so please let us know how what the agents fees were????? we are just about to start the ball rolling and are doing so by finding an agent but the few quotes we have so far vary quite widely, so we thought we would try find out what others have paid for what they considered to have been a good service!!!

go to http://takeielts.britishcouncil.org/ there are free materials here to help, example test papers, test formats and such.

we know we might seem a bit thick but finding the immi.gov.au site really userunfriendly, cant find info we need on any of our queries. so the next question is, for a 189 visa, do we need the academic test or the general test. you can score 8 in both and that's the score we need.

there seems to be a couple of websites offering IELTS tests, is there anyone can tell us what website you booked with?????????????

when we first started to think about emigrating we emailed the .gov websit and were told that the 189 applicant would not need to sit an English test in this case as she is a British citizen, i.e. fully educated in the UK to degree level and lived here all her life...........................................................is this still true? and if so does she automatically get the points???????????

thanks guys we were wondering why you would have to go to come back to go again seems silly, but makes more sense to be granted and just move.

we have heard tell of people being granted a visa then having to get to Australia within a certain time to "validate" said visa, then from that date they tell us you have 2 years to move to Australia or your visa runs out. we are going for a 189 visa. can anyone clarify or verify any of this????????????????????????

hi, good luck with it all we really hope it all works out for you. we are at the same point as you having finally made the decision and now just about to start the paper work. we are going for the 189 as Helen's job is on the skills list, we thought of sponsorship via a job and company but after speaking to a friend who is already there we decided not to, here's why we went for the 189 option. the friend's partner is over there on an employer sponsored visa and the job recently fell through for some reason ending his visa and giving him only 28 days to find another work sponsor or else!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT KNOW HOW ACCURATE THIS IS, so you will have to verify this pit fall for your self's. we have 2 young children ourselves and cant think of any thing worse than our little family being in that situation so we thought we'd give you a heads up on it. probably best to just post the question on here and get some feedback seems like a really great helpful bunch of peeps. good luck rob & helen

if you apply for a skilled 189 visa and then go through the whole proses, get granted the visa, do you have to work in that skilled job for a certain length of time or even at all????? as you can probably tell we are very new to all this

Quick question, what is an IELTS ??????????

Hi, we are just about to start the immigration process and are a little bit lost and overwhelmed by it all so we thought it might be best to find a reliable agent to help us out. So we were wondering if anyone out there has used an agent that was everything you could want from an agent? If so please let us know. We have 2 very young children and time is tight for us and are hoping an agent will be able to take a lot of the stress out of the application process.
