  1. thank you everyone for your replies and advice.its been most helpful it is a case of trying to see as much as we can in such a short space of time.. thats one reason we don't want to pre book trips before we get there. As on the day we may see something else we want to do and do it in out own time. i sure there are plenty of local firms or guides wiling to take us out for the day in any of the towns.. as for the camping/ campervan thing .. we have a caravan here at home but this time we want someone to take us around!
  2. could I experience the "outback" without necessarily going to Ayres rock? It seems that its mostly trekking there and we dont want to do that.. i appreciate its a must see (but its just a rock ..lol ) I'd only want to go for the outback experience
  3. our list of places to stay so fat is as follows .. perth -Allice springs/(ayres rock) - Brisbane - Sydney - Melbourne... we did consider cairns but i understand its the rainy season. We will be flying btwn the cities to save time
  4. That exactly why I thought'd ask and Im only too sure the travel companies will sell us a trip somewhere. when we could have caught a bus or hire care to go ourselves
  5. Its a holiday....... somewhere we did think of moving too but our circumstances changed as the years went on. i know a month isnt going to be enough and its been very difficult to decide what to do in fact we've had to be selective in the things we DONT want to do.. oh and yes i plan to see fremantle
  6. Thank you for your reply were still in the final stages of planning but will update when we know. id much rather get to the the place from someone who lives there and their reccomendations rather than ending up on an organised trip by the travel agents As for us were Ted and Sandra , both in our 50s from the Uk lake district. both retired.Ted is an early retired police officer. with recent circumstances we though "sod it" were going on a trip of a lifetime so we just acted on impulse and decided to go to Australia, thus the sort notice and not quite finished itinerary.
  7. I'm not sure if I've found the right place, but my wife and I are travelling over to Australia for a months multi centre visit in March and it would be great if we could find someone, or even just chat here with folk who know their way around. Or if your up for it meet us when we get there and show us around for the day. We will be arriving in Perth and then moving on via Alice Springs , Brisbane etc ( the full itinerary is still in the planning) There seems to be so much to do and perhaps we don't appreciate the size of the place, and that's where we need help. Thanks everyone Ted and Sandra
