  1. I would say that unless there is a mutual agreement in the original lease (my hubs and his landlord have one that there may be an instance where both parties need to lessen the lease) then you are in for the long haul and would at least have to pay a fee to release you, or they want the remaining months rent paid.
  2. Oh my days, you only mailed me yesterday!!!! Keep strong lovely, we're here for you. xx
  3. Hi Helen. Hubs in Perth as we speak and Im still in uk wrapping up my business. Will be 'relocated' in August! x
  4. My hubs has viewed some 'dives' very different to how they looked on the rental sites! I'd defo view first!!
  5. Hi WV. My kids are 7, 16 (just doing GCSE's now) and 23 (At Plymouth Uni studying Geology!) 23 year old won't be joining us as yet, but we hope Oz offers better career choices for him than uk! My 16 year old can't wait. Looks like she may need to do her a level equivalent at high school. My attitude is, you have the options of night schools or colleges to come back to for education if Perth isn't for you. x
  6. Exactly! Some folk may think of big cumbersome dogs that shed a lot of hair, but if you have a small dog, they may say that's ok.
  7. Hi Rach. I have a business I'm taking over with me, that decision in itself was hard as I've taken 3 years building it, got loads of contacts and clients and I did feel i'd have to start all over again. Hubs is in Hillarys and we all follow over in August. We applied for the visas (PR) about 2 years ago and had to validate them Jan this year. I really didn't have the need to emigrate after the business reached a success point in Jan this year after I won a national award, however, after a few days in Perth, I didn't want to come home! I am actually pining for the place now. I look at folk in the street and think to my self. "This is all you have got" The world is a big place and full of opportunity if you just take it.
  8. We use Facetime on the i pod! Its great isn't it? and free too!
  9. Good luck elfie!! The shippers will load our stuff and then we go straight to airport. I'm sure nearer the time I'll be thinking, "This is a lot of lasts" but at this moment in time, can't wait. See you on the other side. xxxx
  10. I had wobbles, more the not knowing anyone, but I tend to be more on the positives about life in Perth than the scary ones. My hubs is out there and we will have been apart for nearly 4 months when he comes back to 'get us' Before he went, we were having this craaaaazy conversation about our new lives and looked at him and said. "is this for real? I feel like we've won the lottery!" I am mega excited and looking out at the Yorkshire weather today, cant wait!!!!

As in, air mail. Been just over 2 weeks since I sent a parcel to hubs in Perth. 2 weeks! Is that normal???
  13. I feel your pain vixie. Hubs is now into his 7th week in Perth and we still have until 13th August when he comes home to finalize things and then all ship out. I have my good days, but can only ride the happy wave for so long. We decided not to ship the car and hubs bought one in Perth. he decided unless it was a classic car worth importing, it wasnt worth the hassle.
  14. I'll be nipping the hubs along to the station. I do that now in uk. 10 mins out of the day! x
  15. Good job you're not moving here then. Taken from the Perth paper recently.
  16. Congrats!! We have PR visas and evidently this bodes well for prospective employers as they can see the intention to stay.
  17. If i'm honest, it makes me angry. If the shoe was on the other foot, i'd be wishing them all the best and showing them how thrilled I was when inside my heart would be breaking. That's being selfless! We are lucky that we don't speak to our families so have no heart wrenching goodbyes to say apart from my son. He is studying geology at Plymouth Uni so has to finish his BSC. He has said he will be sad to see us go, but knows we all will have great lives. Cheap holidays for him he says. However, as hubs is working for one of the largest construction companies in the world in Perth and they often use Geologists for ground inspections and such, my son has already asked for contact names as he is indicating he may join us once he has finished uni. Folk should look at the move as opening doors, not closing them. You only get one life so should be entitled to live it! x
  18. Hi Lesley. Lucky you! I have to wait till 27th August. Rentals can be a bit dicey yes. Hubs was VERY lucky to get the house we are going to live in. Fully furnished and exquisite, but, we have the help of a relocation agent. However, that doesn't always help!! What is it you both do?
  19. Hello! :ssign6: Great place with great folks here, enjoy x
  20. Our accountant keeps telling us we need to fill in a form indicating we are leaving the uk. Did anyone else do this?
  21. Hubs is missing cadbury chocolate. He says the whole nut just aint the same. I just hope I can get Marmite. Seriously, its the only thing I can stomach when ive been ill!
  22. Oh heck well in Asda you can buy dresses with the union jack flag printed all over in red or black. Shorts t shirts, shoes, caps and glasses. Like, yeah, im gonna wear a frock like that!!
  23. Have you sold all your furniture then? I haven't had a very good time selling anything. Sold a kiddies bike, fab condition for £12! I'm not giving my stuff away, would rather take it with me.
