The same with my husband. He's Design manager at St John of God Midland Hospital and trying to get them to try something new is a challenge. Their attitude seems to be if it aint broke dont fix it!

It really is the best place and having UK to compare to...there is no comparison. Im still on a high from Penguin island, last night we headed to Sorrento beach to see the Elephant sealion, amazing. 9.37am here now and we are just getting ready to go snorkling again at Mettams pool. Just to kill an hour or two. School uniforms need to be washed but ill do that later. Drinking coffee here is certainly different to drinking it in the local Asda in Keighley!!!!

I am really waiting to see my first huntsman. Seen plenty of orbs and they too are fascinating (says the spider hater!!!)

Are you heading Perth side soon Jenpen?

After a full week at work, nothing is better than time with family relaxing on a beach, or coffee and lunch in the city. last weekend we went to CBD and had lunch and coffee beneath BHP tower. Today it was a trip to penguin Island. I cannot tell you what a fab day we've had. We saw penguins in the wild, snorkels with tropical fish and watched pelicans bob about on the ocean. There are days we simply go for a local coffee and chill at home, or sit at the Oceanside in a local cafe for a light bite . I live living here I really do. Parrots fly over the house around 6.15pm so we sit outside and wait for them. life is incredibly wonderful

Been here 18 months. Saw 1 snake a few weeks ago, no huntsman, few red backs. Thought being here would have them crawling out of the woodwork but no. Now, parrots, loads, dolphins, a few, pelicans, yes. For a snake and spider freak, totally not bothered!

Perfectly!!! I am so busy with my business and getting in demand so am super happy there. The outdoor furniture we bought last christmas (12) hasnt really been used so much this summer. Still wouldnt go back to the uk. I know the storms have been terrible but its more than just the weather. Hubs and I have a few hours each weekend for a civilized coffee. Bought a juicer last weekend and LOVE it. Market veg is so cheap you can afford to juice!! Just love it all. The living, the lifestyle, the climate, in short, best decision of our lives. x

Yes, its freehold. Are you looking to buy to rent out or buy to live in, Tony? We have a tenant already in who knows the house is on the market so no probs there, but if it's to buy to rent out the tenant ideally wants to live there long term. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-42145375.html

We are desperate to sell our UK house as we cant finally put down our roots because we need the equity. Lovely 4 bed house set on a hillside in the village of Riddlesden between Skipton and Bingley. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-42145375.html

Hi peeps. we are currently still in a rental and have our lovely quarterly inspections. the real estate have a gardener mow our lawns once a month. He's heavy handed with his mower and damages our retic. He reports constantly back to the real estate about the state of our lawns. I have asked advice from him and he gloated recently that if we moved out he'd take half our bond! I don't like him to say the least so am looking for a nice chap to do a bit of weeding and mow my lawns. Recommendations greatly appreciated

Havent seen a huntsman yet, but gutted if I can be truthful. Hate spiders but kind of respectful for the ones here. Have put a few small brown ones out of the house. Wont kill them unless red back. I follow the twitter feed for the westpac helicopters. Very informative along with the DFC(??) for the bushfires. Thanks for this Port, this is our local beach.

We've been her just over a year and I vaguely remember that feeling. You'll be fine, just go with the flow of emotions because there will be a few. I troughed big style, but have been on quite a peak for a long time now. All the best

Bless me Perth Pomers for I have sinned. Its been ages since my last post. Anyway, after quite a wet winter (who cares?) and rolling nicely into spring (yay) last night the family and I took a picnic tea (or dinner is its known here) and sat on the beach. It was the most perfect thing weve done for ages. Kids loved it, hubs and I loved it. My daughter 17 has her first aussie boyfriend and hes just lovely and she, wearing cap and gown graduates, from high school tonight. My 8 year old has been enrolled in the Australian Choi, my husband, demanding as his job is, is happier than ive seen him in a long time and me? well, my business has taken off with my first Aussie magazine feature happening soon. Go me! Last nights meal was a reminder of how much we, as a family, love it here. We have made a few friends, but are content with the family as the move has brought us closer. Its been a year since arriving and I constantly pinch myself that we actually have the lifestyle we do. Anyway, just wanted to say life is good. Its what you make it.

Thankfully they dont like me, but do have a repellent which seems to work (Sandalwood candles and such are rubbish) Any ideas about keeping the flies away. Approaching 'that' time of year too!!

Well, after a year here I love it!! Going back to Uk a few weeks ago reinforced why we came here in the first place. It has issues like everywhere, but its how you deal with them. I know its a cliche but everything does look better when its sunny and we have the ocean to sit beside when things get a little on top of us and we need some inner calm. Everything feels better after an hour at the ocean. Our kids love it (even our 17 year old!) Our 8 year old has just been accepted into the Australian choir (wouldnt have happened in the uk) and we are looking at houses. I think once we get our own place we will really feel cemented in Perth. People say its the most isolated city. Its a relatively big city and going back to uk and seeing the same people doing the same things (20 years on!!) how big a place do you want? Some folk dont venture out of their home towns. Just because weve come to Perth to settle doesnt mean we cant be happy just with Perth.

We were tied to destination cos my son graduated from Plymouth uni. We'd holidayed at a gorgeous cottage over previous years so stayed there for the 2 weeks. Cottage was superb as always, but having no one in UK ( apart from my son and a few good mates) it just reminded me of why I moved to Oz in the first place. I love it here. Have no desires to go back again out of choice!

We were in Devon. We stayed in a beautiful cottage. We were there for my sons graduation. I guess for me it. Cemented why I came to Australia.

Hated it! Moaned all the time. Roads too fast, too crowded, depressing news, pay for parking, crap weather, felt suffocated. On the plus? Sons graduation great, tesco and. Heap food. So glad to be back on Aussie soil

Walkers cheese and onion but you can get them from British shop joondalup. I don't miss anything! I'm embracing new flavours, shopping etc.
