I'll be brief. Owners of house been overseas, rent house to us via real estate agent. Arrive back in country and in-fluxed with calls from son, family members times ranging from 7.30am to 7pm at night. Tonight, owner of property arrives on doorstep to 'collect mail and see how things are going.' at 8PM (agents job) Gardener (neighbour friend) arrives this morning to property unannounced as usual at 6.30am also just turns up a few times a week to 'do stuff!' Angry does not cover how I am feeling at the moment!

We saw one on the way to the beach. It stopped and looked at me while I took it's picture. Found a few red backs too. Wanted to show my daughter what she should be aware of. Haven't encountered a huntsman as yet. Am, in a weird way, looking forward to seeing just how big they are in the flesh, but at the same time, super scared. Hate spiders!

Hi Paul, yes luckily we have. We used a property agent and managed to secure something that wasn't yet available. However, we do feel that any 'conditions' we may like to set, simple things like grass mowing, may have the real estate tell us to be 'thankful' that we didn't have to endure a home open!

I Tweet a lot and came across this article which says exactly what I think about the rental market in Perth and how, I feel, we are being played as idiots because some of us are desperate enough to secure a rental, we'll rent anything. http://www.philhillphotography.com/2012/10/09/the-cost-of-rent-perth-australia/

So glad it raised a smile. Just one last one for you as we are due to vacate this furnished rental and welcome our belongings into our new one. Final inspection. Paragraph 6 sub paragrah 88 (no I'm joking, the lists aren't really that long, just a few pages) Please check your copy of the Property Condition Report and leave the property in the same condition or (and this is priceless) better than you found it! Yeah, ok so you want me to get my hand down the loo to clean the stained pan, because you obviously did that for me when we moved in. I'll have all the bed pillows cleaned and have all those grubby stains removed, you know, the ones you left me to sleep on! Seriously, I could go on, but deep breathing at the moment! Roll on next week!!

Was going to suggest Dan the man. I have a date with him regularly!

I miss my son, that's it. We are back to uk next year when he graduates uni, but other than that, i'd rather pay for him to come here than us go there! I do have 'funny' days that I can't put my finger on, but apart from that I do love it here.

The owners of this property have the bill sent and the agent takes it away then writes to us direct telling what our usage has been so basically we are just covering our usage here.

Hi Ali, Yes I can see that. I just thought for new arrivals/housebuyers etc having a data base would be a good idea for people bringing over their skills. Feel free to delete if necessary

Hi, where abouts are you moving?

Inspection went well. Going to get cleaners in for final inspection. They wont do as good as a job as me, but at least there will be no comebacks!! Dont stand on cockroaches. You spread their eggs on your feet. Zap them with bug spray. Dirty blighters!

And of course, google earth is fabulous for more realistic views! -
I have quite big peaks and troughs. Troughs because they are generally low. I'm here with 2 girls in a house that isn't mine, surrounded by things that arent mine. No job so go back to hand out to my hubby. I'm trying to get back out there and yes it is tough, but I'm going out to find contacts. Kids are on school break so am spending time exploring the area. I did Ikea yesterday and came home on the freeway (a first for me) Hubs has his routine of work, girls have their routine in school and here I am, just waiting for the day to end because it can get lonely until you meet new friends. We are hemorrhaging cash like no tomorrow. Up front rental fees, bonds, cars, etc etc etc and then going from one rental to the next while waiting for the bond returns is a huge money juggle. The timing of it all is chronic!! You cant get a mobile phone contract until you are in the system. You need above anything else, a medicare card, which can take up to 4 weeks to arrive after processing. Basically you need the medicare card for everything!! Ok, so that is generally the down side. It's new, it's different. It's totally different from sitting at home in your comfy lounge surrounded by your things and planning this fantastic new life. It's like a smack in the face with a plank every now and then, but I've borrowed a sewing machine to get me by to enable me to have work. I do the shopping, cleaning, all the stuff I did in uk. I KNOW it's going to take a while, but the one thing I DO know is I don't want to be back in Uk. As my hubs says. "It aint all Bounty bars and hammocks" But adjustment takes time. You got to give it time. HTH xx

Just wondering if we could have a kind of database for tradespeople here. That way we could look up folk offering their trade or someone who has been given a great service and would recommend?
-
Hi all. I am a professional dressmaker specializing in bridal wear, occasion wear and annual ball wear. I can also sew curtains, basic pleat, triple pleat, pelmets, roman blinds etc. I am trying to re establish a very successful business I had in Uk, so if any one hears of anything or needs anything made, please do give me a hollar.

Renting and vacating. Professional cleaning
linda@no9 replied to linda@no9's topic in Suburbs, Renting & Real Estate
Yep, we know we have to have the windows professionally cleaned. Around $140 I believe my hubs paid last time. As for professional cleaners, think I could probably do a better job if moving in to a professionally clean house was anything to go by! -

Hm, wonder if you served me recently! Thanks ladies. xx -
So our inspection went well. Apart from mould in shower caused by a dripping shower that wont stop dripping! So, we now, hopefully, have secured our next unfurnished rental. I asked the agent yesterday about cleaning and she said yes, as the standard I did yesterday. Now she is telling my husband we need professional cleaners to clean the oven and 'wet areas' Should I ask for proof of this from the agent to make sure it was done before we moved in, ie a receipt? Who do I contact for this service if we need to do it?
