  1. Hi i arrived in jan and realised in May i should to do this as I am state sponsored. You have to then inform them of address changes. I found details here http://www.migration.wa.gov.au/skilledmigration/Pages/Newlyarrivedskilledmigrants.aspx
  2. Just to add though, that it might depend on the age of the property re the space for fridge?...I wouldn't want to steer you wrong! I think a lot of them said on the rental ad if there was a large recess so might be worth looking at realestate.com.au at places in the area you want and seeing what the majority say.
  3. Dishwashers aren't standard, most rentals specifically list it if they supply one so if it isn't listed I'd check! All the places bar one of those we've seen had a recess large enough for a side by side fridge freezer.....
  4. You can also get a rental if you use a place that specialises in short term like ozhouserental (we organised one for 3 months before we came, but they were flexible and we could have rented for a lot less/more time). These places will likely be furnished which might be an issue for you if you're shipping a lot of stuff though.......
  5. Hi Anthea, if you go to http://www.det.wa.edu.au/schoolsonline/home.do you can find info on schools. We were originally going with secret harbour but changed our minds and went with Baldivis so I can't tell you anything about living in SH or what the schools are like I'm afraid. I'm sure others can though! We had a short term rental arranged for the first weeks so we could look around areas and find a rental, I'd definitely recommend it if you can. For rental prices check something like realestate.com.au as it would depend on what you are looking for. Re shopping there is a thread on at the moment you should read. I found going into woolworths or coles online and doing an online shop was a good way of checking how much you would be likely to spend. All the best with it!
  6. Ah there I can't help. We came out in Jan and I haven't started looking yet. Other half working so I wanted to wait til kids properly settled in. If you look on seek there are quite a lot of HR jobs, also agencies like Hays HR. Have you contacted the Australian version of the CIPD? You can get equivalent membership and they have a jobsite, they were really helpful when I emailed them. Also worth sending emails to some key companies in Perth, I emailed a few based on who was advertising to ask about how they would view UK experience and had really positive responses.
  7. Hi my visa was human resources (176 PR visa) approved ok last year. Good luck!
  8. I can't give you any insider knowledge as my daughter only starts Makybe Rise in a couple of weeks after the hols. If you go to http://www.det.wa.edu.au/schoolsonline/home.do you can look up info about schools. For Baldivis its Baldivis Primary, Settlers Primary and Makybe Rise Primary depending where you live. For Secret Harbour its Comet Bay Primary and Secret Harbour Primary. Port Kennedy I know there's Port Kennedy Primary and Endeavour but there might be more! If it helps we used ozhouserental.com for our short term place and it was great, fully furnished, included all linens and they had coffee/tea, bread, milk etc all there for us on arrival! There are others I've seen people mention, stayz is one I think.
  9. Hi Rach1 we ummed and aahed around those areas among others further north too. We had a short term rental so spent a while driving about deciding on where to go and have now recently settled in Baldivis. It's really family friendly, short drive to the beach, lots of playgrounds, 3 primary schools, high schools and variety of shops on your doorstep. It's also very easy access to the freeway which ended up being the crunch for us really. Very happy with our choice. I'm sure there are longer term residents of all those areas who will know much more!
  10. Hi Babs and Jan shall we meet up next week? I can come to Secret Harbour as I'm not far away. Ladies arriving over next few months look forward to meeting you! Anyone coming to Baldivis?
  11. Hi Babs I'm in Baldivis so not far away from you if you fancy meeting up next week? I have 2 kids age 7 and nearly 3.

    advice on shopping

We just got our white goods from Kambos online. All seem to be working ok!
  13. They definitely do as we just got 4! They are hard to find online though, try going to beds then if you click on one you'll see mattresses as a complementing item, or type sultan into the search. We ordered online but they did have them on display in the store too.
  14. We used ozhouserental for a fully furnished short term rental, all organised from uk, very straightforward!
