Thank you for advise. I got interviewed today morning. The lady told me that its going to be recorded so it can be sent to shire. At night I wrote all points which I was expecting to be asked n it was bulls eye cuz what I expected came through. She asked me abt my background, why the position intetests me, what I know about town and I never experienced it before but the first question she asked me was how quickly I can relocate and am I satisfied with the salary and benefit. She told me that I will get an update in 5 to 6 days. What do u think Ali.

I have got a call for Manager(infrastructure) in council . I am surprised the job is open till 12 Nov but they have sent me an email for interview at my convenience from the given time slots. This is a telephonic interview as the location is another state regional area, and the employer has taken services of recruiting agency since physical interview would be very complicated for them being far away...I want to know if any of you have got experience with phone interview and got successful. Please share your experiences, it would prove useful... The interview is schedule tomorrow. One thing, I wont be calling them at all unless I hear back from them. What can be the possible questions I can ask from the interviewer. I also want to know if one can get a job straight after telephonic interview, if not what next can be followed.

Advise taken Portlaunay, I am afraid you are right. I asked for feed back from the Manager who was hiring and he had exactly answered what I am quoting below, " Your interview was perfects in all respects and in some areas your experience was much higher than what we do in council, you are not only a good engineer but a good person too, Its just that sometimes, a candidate comes through who ticks all the boxes and is a bit more suitable for the job with specific job experience, If in future there is a position that suits your experience and qualification, we would be happy considering you". They hired a local Oz candidate which is alright, what I earned from the interview is atleast I will be a known person for them in future if there is a position and I firmly believe that if I keep trying I will get into local government job sooner or later,,,, I will keep your advise in mind next time I appear for an interview. Cheers Shah

Cheers for commenting guys...Got to know someone else got the job offer, I am a bit sad but it is just like they will choose the best for them. Fingers crossed I am still working as a volunteer for a local builder and hope someday some thing will definitely pop up for me. Cheers for taking out time and sharing your opinion and experiences. Hi All I want comments from your worthy experiences as its a bit frustrating for me and want a forum where I can share my concern. I am a Civil Engineer with 4+ years experience living in WA since Nov 2012 and meanwhile I applied for PR which is due for grant soon as I was on 475 but thought PR is much better if you plan to stay here forever. I am working for a local builder at the moment. Recently, I got interviewed for Manager Infrastructure position in a Shire. The interview was conducted by a panel comprising of CEO, Manager Corporate Services and the Executive Manager Technical Services (The main guy who is hiring). Must tell you that only 3 applicants were shortlisted for interview. My interview was for atleast 1 hour and a half which was a bit surprising and they asked me questions from technical matters to behavioral aspects including my salary expectations and notice period.....At the end of interview we had an informal chit chat as well and they told me that they will be in touch next week. When I was leaving, the Executive Manager walked out with me to the door and the first word he said was " You have done exceptionally well and I am very glad and I will get in touch with you soon" I was very encouraged and happy as I could feel I have performed very well. I also sent them thank you emails individually for the interview and again showed them my interest to pursue the job. I gave the Ex. Manager a call the following week and he said they still have to reach a decision on thursday and again said you have done well. I then called HR on friday to know if there was an update so the lady from HR said they were discussing it on today (Friday) and should know something by monday. I somehow waited till sunday but didnt hear back on monday. upon inquiring the Manager did not come to office on monday so I am waiting if something happens today. Just to let you know the current Manager Infrastructure is leaving the job at the end of month so the position is still not vaccant. I want to know if I should keep high hopes or should I stop expecting a big news from them anymore. I am sure you guys can atleast comment to end my frustration from the long wait. Cheers.

Dear Forum Members Wanted to have your say about what happened to me. I am currently living in Bunbury, Regional Western Australia on a 475 visa since November 2012. However, to this date I managed to get two jobs both of which were in regional areas and unfortunately, at the very end stages of signing contract one company hired an indigenous Australian (which is understandable) while the other company cancelled the position saying that they had closed operation in north and were in no position to take me on board. Since then I have got no interview call from any organization. I am a Civil Engineer with a diverse 4 years experience of Project Engineering and Contracts Administration. I am working as Permanent Part time in one of the stores but thats not something I am here for. Having said that I realized that 475 is itself is a big problem in getting a professional job as most employers tend to hire Permanent Residents and Citizen to ensure social security is used as less as it can be otherwise government can be burdened(Just my opinion). So I decided to apply for a PR and lodged my EOI for 189 and 190(Western Australia) and subsequently applied for WA state sponsorship 190. I was not expecting anything but a 190 nomination however, yesterday I was checking my mail and I saw that I got an invite for 189 independent skilled class visa which was a shock for me as it was no where near in my mind that I will be getting an invite. So I am lodging my application in next couple of days however, I wanted to know if any of you have experienced the same as I did like lodging an EOI and getting an invite in a weeks time? How long it will take to get a visa grant if I submit my documents as I have all the documents and fee ready and applying would be a click away. Please advise and share your experiences and give advise/opinion...Cheers

Hi every one! This forum has been a source of information for me the day I started applying for my skill assessment to the day I was granted 475. Now when the time of making a move is close i.e. November 2012, I am a little bit confused about where to head when I land in Perth. I am a Civil Engineer with 4+ experience and my wife is International Project manager in Telecom Industry with more than 7 years of experience. we have a one year old baby girl too. I must quote that I am not a person who would prefer living in a fast and busy city life. So I shortlisted Bunbury and Albany. Now I want the forum members to tell me the goods and bads about both the cities. Or any other city that can suit us. Some of my questions that needs answer are : As a Civil Engineer where are more chances to get a professional job? If initially I dont get one, where are the chances of getting a casual or part time job? Where the living is economical? Which place has good schools and hospitals? We have no issues with language or settling in a new place as my wife and I have lived in Europe too but I am sure Every place is different from each other. Your precious opinion is awaited and will be much appreciated. Please do reply and do help. Love to all Regards Shaw.

Hi Bharath Thanks alot mate. They give one year travel time for 475. No I have not got any job offer so far. But once you have the visa in hand there is a brighter chance of getting a job. Luck is another part of all this and the profession as well. I am a Civil Engineer and there is a big stock of jobs with low man power so more brighter chance of getting a job. I am moving to either Bubury, Albany or Mandurah. Whereever I get a job. Wish you good luck for Visa endeavor. Good Luck

Hello All I need your comments about my Visa 475. After applying for the visa 475 online on 30th May 2012, i got an automated notification two days after applting. On 4th June 2012 my case was assigned to Case Officer. Who requested for medicals and police clearance certificate and a reference letter from my previous employer. I fortunately before the medical request booked appointment for 6th June 2012 and my CO asked for medicals on 4th so my health requirement was sent through E-health . I suppose a much quick way of sending medicals. Need to know how long does it takes when the Case Officer is assigned and medicals are done along with Police Clearance and other requested information uploaded. Will it be soon or do I have to wait for a longer period. Hoping to hear from your all soon. The wait is tough I just felt it... Best Regard Shah PS: All documents on documents checklist shown as Met except Medical sent and referred to Australia, PCC uploading tomorrow and Work experience reference letter from previous employer is uploaded ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________ EA skills assessment 19th March Civil Engineer 23211 Revised 1st May 2012: IELTS 10 March 2012 Avg 7.5: SS WA applied 30th March granted 26th April: Visa application 475 onlin lodged 30th May 2012: CO assigned 4th June 2012: Medicals sent 6th June 2012: Further referred to Australia: Wife IELTS 8 June 2012 avg 7 band: PCC will be uploaded 11th June 2012. The documents Checklist show documents Met for almost all. I forgot to put reference letter of my previous employer which has been requested by the CO. Medical as I said will be done on 6th June and sent through ehealth system to DIAC. Police Clearance has been requested and I have requested the Police station of the area for it as well.
