As a PR you require to be resident for 2 years for certian Social Security payments. http://www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/information/family-assistance-website?utm_id=10

You might be able to find an employer from UK. You might be able to find an employer if go over on tourist visa?? But if you get stopped at immigration and they feel that you are not a genuine tourist your visa could be cancelled at the border, as they check all your bags etc. A 457 visa is a Temp Resident visa - and you are not entitled to anything - you will get schooling if in WA - some other states, you are required to pay school fees. You will not be entitled to Family Assistance
-
Perth is Regional for Family Sponsored Provisional visas with GSM. But your occupation requires to be on SOL 1.
-
If you are from the UK you are eligible for reciprocal health care. You need to pay medicare levy which I think is about 1.5% http://www.ato.gov.au/content/00250854.htm

You will be able to apply for PR after 2 years - not citizenship.
-
If you apply online you wont need your documents certified - as you can colour scan the original documents. If you are married you will only need to provide your marriage certificate. Depending on what you are going to do in Australia - it is unlikely you will need medicals for a 457 visa, unless you have medical condition, or will be working in Childcare or Medical setting.

THink they are quick to take the money - maybe call them on Friday to make sure that they have your application. -
I think it is difficult to get back on your feet once you get there - with all the outlay of costs. Somethings are more expensive and some are cheaper.

Hi Lovepug!! We are not yet in Perth but my OH was offered a very similar salary to what you have been offered, (You need to make sure that is not including your super). Will be interested in the replys - but I would say that $130,000 is a really good salary - around £60k (based on exchange rate 2.2). Is your OH planning to work too.

There is no 1 July changes for Spouse visas - but they usually put up the fees 1 July - so hopefully they will take the payment before Monday!! Congrats on getting your application in. -
Without an agent for 176WASS we were about £3500 in the end, 2 adults - 1 child, with 4 PCC to get, and some documents needed to be translated. My OH is Engineer - therefore depending on your occupation this can be more. SKills assessment?? ours $600 - plus translations and getting documents certified another £150 IELTS £125 WA SS - $200 Visa application £2000 Medicals - Adult £290 Child £95 Police Checks - ACRO - 35 AFP - $45
-
If you apply for a visa by paper application you are unable to check progress online. Medicals can take about a week to get bloods back and finalise but can be a little longer if medicals have been referred. You can email your CO to find out or check VEVO - but that will only tell you when visa has been granted.
-
A 176 visa is a PR visa therefore you wont need sponsorship by a company. Sponsorship is usually required for a visa. IF you have a job offer in Australia and moved to another job - this will make no difference to your visa. After 4 years in AUstrlaia you will be eligible for Citizenship

I spoke to an agent in Edinburgh when we first looked in to the process - we were going to use one but I got pregnant soon after and we took our time. My OH is a Mechanical Engineer, he needed to do the IELTS first before he could send away for his skills assessment, as he does not hold a UK passport. The skills assessment took 16 weeks to come back, we then got SS. We read through Booklet 6 and go lots of information of the sister site (Poms in Oz). If you have any issues with your application Medicals or crininal convictions, or short on time - it is worth to use a good Registered Agent. Once you know the process it is not as complicated as it seams.
-
Hi We are from Aberdeen - we got our visa in October and going over to validate in September. We didnt use an agent, as our case was straight forward. Not sure when we are going to make the big move - but glad we have our visas.
-
When looking for a Migration Agent you should make sure that they are Registered with MARA. You have every right to cancel your contract with them. If you do a google search "****** ***** Reviews" - people have managed to get their money back through their credit card or small claims court. Contact your credit card company to try to cliam back your money. How far have you gotten in the process - have you done your skills assessment yet?? Go Matilida - Visa Buerau and Overseas-Emigration are all well respected Registered Migraition Agents http://migrationagentreviews.com/australia-agent-reviews.html

If you dont have visas already - it may be worth that you speak to a Registered Migration Agent that deals with medical conditions. If you go for Temporary visa or PR visa, with a pre-existing medical condition you will need to pass a medical before you would be able to get your visa. If going over on a 457 TR employer sponsored visa from the UK - you will be eligible for Reciprocal Healthcare. (But you will need Health insurance to be able to apply for a 457 visa). http://www.humanservices.gov.au/spw/customer/publications/resources/ma1856/1856-1106en.pdf

The OP is going on a 176 visa which is PR. People going on a TR visa 457 or Provisional visas 475 for example - a baby born in Australia will get same Visa as Parents, which will need to be applied for once child is born.
-
If you are applying online for your visa - if you colour scan the original documents - these will be accepted without them requiring to be certified. You will require private healthcare for the duration of your time on 457 visa to comply with the 8501 condition on the visa. Only if you are eligible for Reciprocal Healthcare with Medicare you will be able to register when you arrive. If not you will require Private Healthcare, I think IMAN do reasonable cost of cover. http://www.austhealth.com/reciprocal-agreements.php

Yes you must maintain adequate health insurance during a 457 visa But if you are from the UK - you are entitled to reciprocal healthcare, but you can only register once you get to Australia - and you will get a Medicare card. To register with Medicare you need to show your passport (and useful to show NHS card to show that your are usual resident of UK) "Being enrolled with Medicare under reciprocal health care arrangements is sufficient to meet the health insurance requirement at visa grant and to comply with visa condition 8501. You can only enrol with Medicare if you are in Australia. If you have enrolled with Medicare you should provide evidence that you have been issued with a Medicare card as part of your application. If you are overseas, you must arrange adequate insurance for your initial period in Australia and provide evidence of this insurance as part of your application. You may be eligible to then enrol with Medicare once you are in Australia. Being enrolled with Medicare is sufficient to comply with visa condition 8501." http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/457-health-insurance-faq-visa-holder.htm

If you do decide to have a new baby in UK after your visa has been granted - once you are going to make the move you would require the new baby to get a Visa - Child 101, current costs $1995 offshore (5-7 months processing time) $2960 onshore. Fees due to go up in July. If you have the baby in Australia - it will be Austrlaian Citizen at birth.
-
If you and your wife validate your visas and not the children - when it comes time that you decide to move you will need to re-apply for a Child 101 visas for the children. Current costs are $1950 offshore $2960 onshore. The children will need to re-do their medicals and you both would require police checks. Offshore processing times for Child 101 visas are 5-7 months (medicals are requested at start of process) wtill need to validate within 12 months of medicals or PCC. Currently on 1 Child 101 application for the same fee you can have more than 1 child, but there is word that this might change - extra fee for each additional applicants on visa applications. If you are going to have more children in the UK before you go to Australia, you would need Child 101 visas for them anyway. I know how you feel we are going to validate out visas in September - our daughter will be almost 2 when we go.

Go Walkabout can give you 1 way travel insurance which will cover you until you get to Australia and register with Medicare - being registered with medicare satisfys the 8501 condition of your visa).
