It is the cheaper option if we have to pay for it, but it is also the longest with a current wait time to turn the visa around of 18 months.
-
Thanks for the replies. We have three options - this one via direct access, wait till Jan 15 (2 years in country) and get the company to sponsor normally under the 457 or apply for a spouse visa as wife (Australian) and children both hold Australian and British passports which should go straight to PR as been together for 10 years.
-
Hi all, I’m hoping that one of you may know the answer to this one as I just cannot find any info that makes it clear Under the direct access scheme you can apply for PR if you meet the criteria:- have your skills assessed by the relevant authority in Australia, and have been employed in the occupation for at least 3 years be offered a role with guaranteed earnings of $180,001 or more (I do meet at least one of these LOL) The question is, is there anything to stop me from asking my company to go for the PR under the direct access now I have been in AU for 18 months, it’s just that if I can do it now I have a very good chance of work paying for the visa if I wait until the end of the year I may have to pay for the PR myself. Thanks for any help you can give

Yes your little one can start Kindy in Feb 15. My little one was born Nov 10 and is due to start next year.

My friends boy went to Kalamunda Primary School (which has a special needs section). He is severely autistic, but moved him to Roleystone Community College last year (Year 4) in mainstream school. He has an assistant in the classroom for 0.4 of the day and by himself the rest. He loves it and the students are very supportive of his needs. I know, we also have a blind boy in the high school part of the college too.

Never boiled or filtered water here. Tastes just fine from the tap or chilled in the fridge. If i lived off a rainwater tank, then yes would boil it, but from the mains supply, no need.

Anybody living in Roleystone/Araleun?
Nutnudger replied to Alienmigration's topic in Suburbs, Renting & Real Estate
I would not just pick out the Armadale line, any of the train lines out of Perth at night time would not be ideal for a young teenager. I grew up in Roleystone (born in Armadale hospital) and left Roleystone for my first job after uni at 24 (to country Moora) before leaving to live in the UK. I never once had any problems with travelling on the bus/train out of Roleystone. Most teenagers in Roleystone venture as far as Carousel and maybe Perth during the daytime only in order to get the bus back up the hill. If I was out late in Perth for any reason, my dad would pick us up from the CBD. There are many things to do in the area for the teenagers. We have a theatre, a new skatepark which is well loved by the kids here and Roleystone is very heavily into sports. We have a footy team, cricket team, T-ball/baseball club, netball club, little athletics club, tennis courts and club, a local gym not to mention all the bush walks and Canning Dam or Churchman's Brook are only a 5 minute drive away. The 'new' school which is a combination of the old primary and district high school is good. Due to numbers they merged the two to the one site of the old District high school. It does Kindy to Year 10 with a heavy emphasis on Film/Drama and Phys Ed.. After that you would go to Kelmscott or Lesmurdie High schools or one of the private schools in the area. My boys will eventually go to Kelmscott, just as I did for their final two years. I did Kindy to Yr 10 at Roleystone and Yrs 11 and 12 at Kelmscott. A lot of people on PP will say that Kelmscott is not a good school and wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, but I believe that if the child wants to learn they will achieve what they want. I turned out just fine with a degree in Accounting and Law. -

We live in roleystone. My wife grew up here and all her family still live in roleystone. We do most of our shopping locally but don't find armadale or kelmscott bad areas. You will have bad areas in all suburbs. Public transport can get you down to carousel if needs be, but we often go to the flicks at night in armadale. we have a great house on a large 3500sqm block and we do love it up here. My eldest has settled into school at roleystone community college well. I would recommend the area or any hills town to anyone. -
Our bikes got through fine. We bought two used bikes - my road bike and hubby's lazy sunday ride bike which we didn't clean. The packers packed them well and arrived fine. Didn't get stopped. Our three brand new bikes - hubby's road bike, my mountain bike and son's mountain bike came air freight and we had to pay tax on them though. All arrived in perfect condition.

We are a family of 4 with a dishwasher but no pool. Our bill is $31.76 for 2 months and we used the washing machine nearly daily as I was washing cloth nappies in this time too. Our bill should come down as we are now nappy free!!

I have a mum like yours but being marred to an Australian my mum knew for 10 years that we would at some point move to Perth, and even when we told her she still wasn't happy, we of course are now in Perth now my point of view is that you should be doing what you know to be right for your selfs, don't let anyone stand in your way of doing what you and your husband want to do, there's no point in living life by someone else's rules. afder the move I had a new issue I wasn't expecting a conversation that starts with my mum saying "well I can not afford to fly out there we are not working" this is my mums way of trying to get me and my wife to pay for my mum and her husband to fly out to perth for a holiday hang in there I'm sure you will make the right decision,

If you use Facebook then you can like the 720 ABC Perth page, you will then get any bush fire notifications via there page as well, it's very helpful they also post any maps that have been provided to them, this should be used as well as listening to the station of course stay safe

All the centers we spoke to seem to have a good idea of the dogs back ground, and most rescue centers will stipulate that you must meet the dog first, the people we used have the dogs staying with foster homes to give them time to try and rehouse the dog to there full time home, this takes a lot of the unknown out of the process becouse the dogs would have been with them full time and some of the homes have kids so that information helps we also have two kids 6 & 2 and did have the same issues, i have before seen puppy's available from rescue places you may want to think about what type of dog ie working dog type so very active, or something more released
-
Don't get me wrong guys and girls I'm all for the rescue centers, there are plenty of dogs begging for a home pardon the pun, but it's a personal choice we got a great dog he is great with the kids and doesn't have any bad habits we have been very lucky to find him
-
It all depends what you want we looked at Labradors but they seem to cost $1500 -to- $2200 and can be picked up from the pet shop with little or no ID requerd, we ended up getting a Kelpie X from a rescue organisation cost us $450 he comes with a vet check worming and has had the snip, you need to registrar the dog with the local authority the rescue center will want you to fill in some paper work and they may want to visit you at home, we were asked to provide photos of our block and the fencing

So we have been in our house for about 4 months, and we are very busy working on the house, next comes the granny flat and that's were the question is is there a market to let out our granny flat short term, I'm really thinking of people arriving from the UK that could do with some one picking them up from the airport and they would have somewhere to stay the granny flat once we finish the work would have its own bath/shower room and kitchenette and is far enough away from the house that they would have some space I'm thinking as a short term thing for when people are taking the first couple of weeks to settle in and sort work and long term rental? we are SOR does any one know what the tax implications would be? thanks for any help guys

I don't think a year will be a long enough period for you to make your mind up on staying or going home, it will take some time for you and the family to get in to the swing of things out here and getting a home and getting settled in all takes time moving to WA is stressful anyone that says it isn't is kidding them selfs from my point of view ensure you and your OH are both on the same page when it comes to the move and under what conditions you would both look at moving back ensuring your both open and as clear with each othere as you can be, may well help him understand your point of view and may give you the reassurance you need to be happy with a move here best of luck

I just don't like it, we have two kids we are lucky my wife is an Australian so the kids have an AU passport, but I just hate the feeling from some people about people on a 457, this to me would looks like the government is looking to win win if people were put off then they say "we'll we have taken steps to make the 457 not look so appealing" and if people continue to use it then they end up takeing even more money off you it's win win for them people already pay a lot in tax, this isn't a bond that's being paid against the seat your kids are taking up at school its a tax on anyone that comes here with kids, now with all that said I don't want to get in to a verbal fight with anyone, it just the way I feel about it but feel free to disagree with me

I haven't done any yet here in WA yet there is only one track so if track days are your thing then you may need something else to keep you occupied lolMy brothering laws girlfriends dad is a bike cop here and filtering is OK the thing that gets the cops going here when filtering is if you keep changing lane on a wim with out indicating as if you have a 3rd lane in the middle of the cars if you get what I mean that's what he told me any way It's odd tho I have a friend at work that got stopped on his bike by the cops the first thing the cop said was why did you stop he said "we'll you have the lights going so I guessed you wanted me to stop" the cop said that bikes routenley ride off becouse of the no chase policy when it comes to motorbikes lol
