My insurer had our Aus address, but they did not tell me that I wasn't covered, I guess they presumed we still had UK residence status. -

Hi Brit Girl, Ignore the Insure mentioned in my original post, the original insurance was with someone else, the non resident landlords insurance was with http://www.intasure.com -
Sorry, a bit late to this post and haven't time to read all the responses. Is this shop the new one opening in Currambine?? I hope so, I'm in Joondalup!!

Hi, I've not forgotten you, but not had a chance to talk to hubby as he's at the pub tonight! Will get back to you soon!

My husband was in Telecoms in the UK and for a short time here. What type of work do you do and I can find out more? Cheers Liz

Ha!ha! I didn't actually post it for that, good thinking though! It's an add on to the job opportunities post I made last week, so that people could see for themselves what it's all about. Maybe I should have put it on that post

If you've got nothing better to do this evening, watch Today Tonight on 7 at 6.30pm to see my ugly mug! It will explain what iTasker is all about x

Hi everyone, I have just started working as a freelance Marketing Manager for itasker.com.au This is young company that is doing well in Perth City, and I have been taken on to expand the business further a field. Firstly I need to recruit new iTaskers! Recent jobs have been gardening, assembling furniture, dog walking, grocery shopping and taking an elderly lady to the Doctor. We were filmed by Today Tonight last week, which will air in the next couple of weeks, so we’re hoping that this will generate a lot of new jobs. So if you want to earn a bit of cash in your spare time have a look. Jobs may be a little slow to begin with as the word spreads. There is no hidden agenda, as an iTasker you will be paid directly by the customer either by cash or Paypal, and then iTasker will invoice you every fortnight for 15% of what you earn. You work when you want and are not an employee of iTasker. If you want a job done, it’s free to post it on the site. They are also launching it in the UK in June! Have a look at the website to get a better idea of how it works. The site is quite basic at the moment, but a new one is being launched this week that is lot more user friendly. Anyone over 16 can apply, you just need police clearance, you can still apply without it, but can’t work until you have it. Please mention my name when applying. If you have any questions, just ask! Cheers Liz

Just for the information of any expats that are unaware (as I was)! If you have a rental property in the UK and are PR in your new country, your buildings insurance may not be valid. I have been with Insure in the UK for 2 years and just found out that had I claimed it would not be valid as I'm a non-resident of the UK. This only came about as I didn't get my renewal reminder due to Insure's error, so had to do a fresh quote, they asked me if I was a UK resident and I realised I'm not now, then the light went on and I realised that I am PR of Australia! Just did a quick search as I had to be covered ASAP and only found one company that does it, and it cost £878!!!! I quickly bought the policy, but can't believe that I have potentially been uncovered for 2 years!! I am still not covered as I have to sign a subsidence form and send it back, please God don't let anything major happen in that time! Like ·

Hi there, My husband worked for BT for most of his life and had to get an AQF3 to get the visa, he actually did his AQF2 and cabler's licence online before he got the AQF3, he had to fly to Sydney from London for a one day assessment to get it via RPL. I guess it depends on what kind of work your husband does, my husband is more your up poles, down holes guy, and has never once been asked for his license or certificates. He found it very hard to get work here as the electricians do all the cabling jobs. He worked for a horrible company that fabricated 2 warnings to get rid of him, he wouldn't cut corners like they wanted him to! Avoid Digital Communication!!! He now works on CCTV cameras. I know that the agency he works for are always looking for people, so if you want their details let me know. Sorry I can't be more specific, but hubby isn't home and I don't know all the comms jargon, I should after writing up the TRA for him!!! Please feel free to pm for any info x PS: I will dig out all the stuff later to find out about the license etc.

Rental wanted Oct/Nov, Kinross, Mindarie, Currambine, Connolly.
Liz replied to Liz's topic in Suburbs, Renting & Real Estate
Hi, We love Currambine, but then we love Connolly, Kinross and Mindarie too! This is our 4th house in 18mths though! We got it through the usual channel, REIWA. The agent is Harcourts. But we found our last rental on Gumtree with a private landlord. Are you new to Perth? Liz -

Thank you, but we now have a rental in Currambine. -
Hi, We have to move out of our lovely rental 13th Nov, we are currently in Mindarie, but will consider surrounding areas. We are ideally looking for a long term rental as this will be our 4th move in 18 months! There is me, hubby and a 6 and 11 year old. No pets, non smoking. We are landlords ourselves and are happy to fix bits and bobs around the house. So if anyone is breaking their lease or know of any rentals I would be grateful. Many thanks Liz

Rental with pool required, northern suburbs
Liz replied to a topic in Suburbs, Renting & Real Estate
Hi, Have you looked on Gumtree in Perth? We found our rental through that, it is rented privately, I prefer it to using an agent. We are on the move again in Nov though. We have a pool and my husband hates it, they take a LOT of looking after! I love it in the summer though as do the kids. -
I am selling an 1994 Nissan Terrano. The good bits: Auto, diesel, electric windows, radio/cd, tow bar, air con, it is so comfy it's likes driving an old sofa, it is great for a cheap 4x4 to do 4wdriving, beach, anywhere that you don't want to use your nice car for, rego until Jan 2012. Not so good bits: Bear in mind that 'she' (yes, she has a name too!) is an old car! It has a mind of it's own, meaning that 'she' decides if the boot will stay up when getting stuff out, 'she' decides if the air con will work, the open door light flickers sometimes although the doors are shut, the interior isn't in the best condition and there are quite a few scratches etc, it likes to go slow until it warms up, all quirky little things, but it is a workhorse. , I am reluctant to sell it, but we would have to keep up the rego. My OH wants a smaller runaround for work. I will add interior photos when it is clean! $3000

Hi everyone, I am hosting Christmas in July on Saturday and wanted to make Kir Royals. I have usually bought the Cassis from Dan Murphy's or the bottle shop at Mullaloo beach. (I am in Mindarie, Perth) They are both out of stock. Does anyone have any ideas where I might get it? I have rang around my local bottle shops, but no luck. Any tips would be great. Thanks Liz

Thanks, we have decided on parking at the airport, taxis would cost $160 and the car park is $119 for 10 days, just getting all the stuff sorted out today!

Hi folks, We are off to Bali next week and wondered if anyone has used a park and ride type of parking for the airport? I have found one, but the website doesn't look very professional. Cheers Liz

My son has just finished daycare at a fabulous place in Currambine. It was $75 per day, but I paid £35.20 with rebates. You get extra off if you are both working, training or doing voluntary work.

I haven't been on here in ages and have just seen this, shame I missed it! I am in Mindarie too, so if you are having any other meets with kids I would love to come. Mine are aged 5 and 10.
