  1. There are places that rent fully furnished - ours is one of them  We do still have some availability for August but time is running out as that's the start of our busy season.

You need to search for fully furnished/self contained/holiday let properties. Google is probably a better bet than realestate.com.au or reiwa.com.au.

    Hope this helps!!

    Regards

    Jen :)

  2. Hi Sam, in the areas you describe there aren't a huge abundance of hotels, but there should be some short stay/holiday type accommodation options.

As you've identified you won't be able to organise a long term rental unless you have actually seen the property (or got someone else to view it for you, and submit a rental application on your behalf.)

We have properties in various states of availability over the coming months, but they are all a lot closer to Perth city than the suburbs you're looking at, and they are apartments or villas rather than houses.

  3. You're right Nicola, it's the Department of Commerce - here's the website for the part that deals with tenancies:-

    http://www.commerce.wa.gov.au/ConsumerProtection/Content/Property_renting/Renting_and_tenancy/Tenants/index.htm

Not all landlords are sharks when it comes to returning the bond! I always tell our tenants that if the property is neat and clean on vacation, with no major damages, then they will get their bond back, no problems. (Regarding damage, the occasional glass or plate breakage doesn't count, this is to be expected - by 'damage' I mean, for example, the tenants that punched a hole through the bathroom door!)

  4. There is a real shortage of furnished properties on the market. You will also find that furnished places advertised on places like REIWA and realestate.com.au have the furniture, but not things like linen, crockery and cutlery, and pots and pans.

Depending on what your budget is and whether your company is prepared to subsidise your rent, you may wish to look at holiday lets such as ours (click on the link in my signature) or Tracey's at www.ozhouserental.com, these might be suitable for what you're looking for.

  5. Hi Lesley, we have properties available then, but they're not that far north. I'm sure Tracey from ozhouserental.com has properties on her books that are in those areas however, plus she's lovely to deal with.

I hope you find something! You are giving yourself a head start by looking now - I get contacted by people only two or three weeks before they arrive, and I have to refer them elsewhere as we're booked a reasonable way in advance.

Let us know how you go with Tracey :)

    Regards

  6. Hi Kelly :) We have had people book to stay with us for anywhere from 8-12 weeks while waiting for their containers. One thing to keep in mind is that the containers seem to get delayed on a fairly regular basis, so you may find you have to extend your stay in your short let for a few weeks - it's worth checking out that this is possible, or at least letting the owners of your short let know, so they can factor this in. Otherwise they may book someone in immediately after your departure, and you have to then go and find somewhere else for a couple of weeks while waiting for your container. We have had situations where people have had to do this, and as we have not been aware, we've booked new people in and had to disturb our current tenants by getting them to move out. Obviously not ideal for them, and fairly easily avoided by letting the owners know.

    Good luck :)

  7. I agree with the above, it really depends on whether you'll be working professionally or bartending. If professional you will probably want reasonably close to the city, as that is where the majority of offices are based. If bartending it will vary - there are bars all over Perth obviously ;)

  8. You say in a few weeks - I hope you're not going to be looking for a hotel around the 20th - 30th October, as Perth will be hosting CHOGM (the Commonwealth heads of government meeting) and you won't be able to get a hotel room for love nor money! Otherwise pretty much anywhere should be clean and comfortable - not sure about prices, but I'm sure someone will be along soon with some recommendations :)

  9. Holiday let's are often sub let properties , bonds are only paid to the WA govt pn long term rentals

That isn't necessarily true - we always lodge our bonds with the Bond Administrator, and we do rentals from two months upwards.

Scooby, here's the spot to find out some more info on bonds etc in WA:-

    http://www.commerce.wa.gov.au/ConsumerProtection/Content/Property_renting/index.htm

Best of luck with it all - let us know how you go.

    Regards
