Hi! Depending on your visa most of the airlines will give you an increased baggage allowance on a 1 way from the UK. Emirates seem pretty good at 50KG each for hold baggage, but expensive for tickets. Best bet is to give the airline you want to go with a call to see what the allowance will be on the ticket. You normally have to send them a copy of the visa as proof for the additional allowance. Hope That Helps Kev

Hi Trav Happy New Year! We are in exactly the same situation. Looking to move Edgewater, Sinagra etc in Nov. We have just started to look for flights to get a rough date to aim for. If you are taking pets you need to think at least 6 months ahead for the rabies jab and bloodtest. We got the visa on 28/12 and this week we will be starting to get the quotes for the container and get the house whipped into shape and on the market. Loads to do and time is just bound to fly by! Good luck with it all let us know how you get on. I do know the earlier you book flights the better the price you get. Singapore Airlines seem to be good value at about that time, some good flight times too. Kev

Might be a strange question to ask but has anyone had any issues taking the vacuum cleaner to Oz? My wife loves her Dyson and I want to know if we are better buying a new one or bringing the old one with us? It's got to that time where I will be asking loads of daft questions I think. Hi Ethan. If you get a decent broadband connection your best bet would probably be to get skype on your laptop and you can dial the UK for about 5p/min, you can ring a mobile for about 14p/min, that's from anywhere in the world. If you have a smartphone you can get Skype as an app and use it on a Wi Fi connection at home as a phone. Really is Very Cheap way of keeping in touch with people in the UK. Just wondering if anyone could let me know what the process of buying a car is? Do you need your Oz driving licence etc to do it or can you buy when you arrive? Wasn't really wanting to waste too much money on a hire car if I can help it. Thanks Kev

Hi! We are currently going through our visa app and are now starting to look around at somewhere to settle. Hopefully if all goes well we will probably look at making the move June/July time. My daughter will be 13 and we are looking for some advice with regard to a good high school, as that will influence whether we move to Heathridge or Edgewater as it seems we have narrowed it down to that sort of area. We have looked on line at 3 up to now and they all look pretty good, but they always do on their own websites. Any advice would be great. Thanks Kev
