  1. Us too .. we were shocked to put it mildly !! extortionate is the word and don't get me started on trailer tents etc .. we are back to tent camping :( We had a 3 year old Bailey in the Uk and sold it for a pittance compared to the vans here . I do wonder though if you do bring it what would the shipping cost compared to one here .. i doubt Damp would ever be a problem , maybe the continental style would be good ? you would def need Aircon me thinks !
  2. Kate , do pet air just do international or do they do internally in Australia ? do you know ?
  3. My Husband had to change , he came as a cnc engineer and found it hard to get work . So he ended up as a fitter / mechanic .. very different but he likes it more two steps forward one sideways .. i think for some . I remember my uncle saying years ago that there are a lot that come over here that don't do the same job/career At least if you can and you have an open mind to give it a go it can work out
  4. Yumm .. i had heard that Spices on ocean ( Rockingham foreshore ) was a good one as well . Thats two to try out
  5. http://www.myschool.edu.au/ This is a good website
  6. There are 3 primary state schools at present ( with more planned ) and Tranby which is private . Tranby goes from kindy to high school . Baldivis primary , Makybe primary and Settlers Primary . They are all sharp on the boundaries , so you would have to get a house in the exact area to get in at whichever you choose .. i think if you move boundaries after the year 1 it is possible to stay in that chosen school .
  7. That's what we did .. bought a new one and an old
  8. I brought two Dyson's with me ..they are really expensive here.. if your shipping stuff why wouldn't you bring it ?.wash your cylinder and pipes out with jeyes or vircon. You will have to buy a hoover here anyway
  9. I have been recommended the one in Rockingham on the foreshore , i think its called spices on ocean .. or something like that .. eat in or takeout

  11. My dogs been fine , he is an indoor pooch though ! .. walkies in the sea , early and late walks .. ( not daytime ) beaches are dog friendly or not , Period .. usually one direction they are allowed and opposite they are not we put big bottles of water in fridge and give him his out of that and ice as well . Always leave fans and aircon on in a room if he is alone .. Yesterday he had a cold hose pipe session and aircon ( as he had a cruciate op last month he can't walk for 8 weeks ) .. and it's really not for long the weather that is and what i call evil hot !! lol .. Perth tbh is a place thats a big town called a city .. i love it and some do not .. i suppose really it depends on your lifestyle choices and if you have children younger ones or older ones , what schools you need etc how far to travel for work ? Scenery as in the hills or beaches .. think off a straight line beaches west Perth on the middle of that straight line , hills east to the east .. Prices are higher nearer the city and also prime beachy area's . I have lived in 3 area's since being here and loved all 3 for different reasons .. My favourite was Leeming near the city 10 mins by train and 10-15 to freo .. i loved it because it was easy to get everywhere .. 20 mins to coogee dog beach Baldivis is classed as semi rural , 9 mins to the nearest beach .. near Rockingham and Mandurah 20 mins .. but all the basics are near .. not a village though .. kalamunda in the hills was a fab village feel rural and great little shops high street , 40 mins to Beach and no trains but good bus service . There is a good suburbs thread on here which helps with some places and up north , the only places i know are Woodvale as friends live there and Balajura again for that reason
  12. I agree with Tracey .. we have lovely dog beaches here ( Baldivjs)and at present its not a suburb within a suburb feel .. I'm sure it will change has house growth continues .. I love the weather here as well but i do go into whinging pom mode over 30° I'm doing well this week lol
  13. Hmmm I need to pop up your way more often ! I forgot Roxby
  14. So have you had a favourite meal or restaurant here that you enjoy or cafe /eatery ? We have had a few meals out and some have been a hit some a miss ... we went to a steak house that we were recommended last week in Mandurah and i was like whats all the fuss about ? Any recommendations ? Had a lovely lunch at *The Gate *in success the other week . Love * Embers * in Gooseberry Hill ( Italian) for dinner with the kiddy winks or not ..* Nicholsons bar* in Canning vale is a great stop off .
