  1. Well we've taken the plunge and booked our validation trip for October to coincide with my sister in laws wedding. Feel relieved we are not having to rush the move and can spend 2 weeks in Perth doing a proper reccie as usually we are there on holiday.
  2. Well there is a real buzz today where I live as Henry Cavill, Russell Crow and Amy Adams walk the red carpet at the premier of Superman. I feel i should have really made an effort and put on a posh frock and gone to the cinema tonight. It would have been a great experience for £8.
  3. Glad to hear its all going well. It makes me feel much more positive about our impending move.
  4. Good luck with your move!
  5. Oh Lorraine. So sorry to hear your house sale fell through. We need I put ours on the market and its not looking good! Loads have gone on the market recently and lots are still being reduced. We could really do with it picking up here. It seems to be in parts of the UK! We're toying on whether to do a validation trip in October and go to SILs wedding. I think that's what we're going to do and then it takes he pressure of and we can save like mad try and get hubbie a job and sell the house. I just hope it all comes together! Good luck selling yours. At least the weathers been rubbish in the UK which might encourage people to buy in Spain!
  6. I thought you only have to register with wa if you are state sponsored.
  7. At least he's had some practice and there's not so much pressure on him in the academic exam to score 8 or above. (Although if he scores 8 or above he may not forgive you!)
  8. Personally I would have another go at the ielts as there by far less 489 visas issued and there are obvious limitations with a 489.
  9. Would love to be in that position. We need to sell our house and/ or get a job in Oz before heading down there. Too risky for us otherwise as we are a family of 5. 2 cars to sell too and loads if sh*t to get rid of or ship. We both have to give 3 months notice at work too!!! I want to sit down with hubbie and work out our strategy but whatever I would love to validate in October by going over for my sister in laws wedding.
  10. I think your only option is redo the ielts.
  11. Yyyaaaaayyyyyy! Said you could do it!!!! Brilliant news. Well chuffed for you Debs.
  12. Need to save/raise some money. Anyone want to buy a yacht? LOL!!!
  13. Thanks for all the congrats and well wishes. It lovely to know your fellow PPs are routing for you! I don't think it has really sunk in yet. I actually forgot about it completely today at work!!!! Lol! SIL was beside herself today and so excited for us. Was meant to be off the vino this week after a busy half term holiday and my excuse last night was that me SIL officially became an Aussie so had to celebrate with a glass of Aussie Rose. Having another tonight to celebrate!!!
  14. Brilliant news! So chuffed for you. When are you planning to move to OZ?
  15. Thanks Chall. It's good to know my posts have helped others in this process. Feel a bit mixed, secretly smiling but haven't worked out next steps yet. All our focus has been on getting to this stage. I think we might have to bite the bullet and book to at least validate in October as my SIL is getting married then in Oz!
  16. We received our visa grant today!!!! Whoop whoop! I'm excited but bottling it up because I know I'm going to be asked what next by family and friends who know and hubby and I have focused so much on getting to this point we haven't worked out our next steps in moving to Oz! Soooooooo much to decide, do and sort out!!!!!
  17. Whoop whoop! Visa grant received over night!
  18. If you need more time then you can buy yourself more time by waiting until your case officer emails to you and request this information. You will probably have 28 days from then but you can prove to them with receipts that you have booked the medical and sent off for the PCC check. Just keep an eye out for that email as I think some people received it but it went to their junk inbox.
  19. My sister in law officially became an Aussie today!
  20. If you've done them already you can upload them. The meds are usually done by the medical centre. If you haven't then there is no need to wait to be asked by your CO. You can apply/ book them now but with your Medicals there should be a link where you load your documents. This link will lead to a form for each individual on your visa application and once completed you will receive an electronic letter addressed to the medical centre you selected. You can then go ahead and book your medical with that centre and once all the tests are completed they will send the results directly to DIAC (within Diacs system if its an emedical). I've just chased mine and they've said it was loaded at the same time as the rest of my family's so I don't know DIAC can't see it. I know others have had this problem so I'm trying to resolve it this week as its the very last thing DIAC needs in order to make the visa decision. On tender Hooks!
  21. Only my medical now waiting to be uploaded. I really hope it hasn't been referred. Fingers crossed.
  22. Kirsty I would remove your email address if I were you and pm it to Chloe as you don't want loads of spam emails.
  23. Loving reading all of your posts. I'm doing exactly the same and know there is so much I'm going to miss. But I've moved away before and been 20 years where I am now. I used to miss the smell of sugar beet and when I smell it it reminded me if home but the sugar beet factory closed years ago so I'd forgotten about it until I read your posts. Some things will change and will just be memories wherever you live. You've just got to save those memories and enjoy making new ones. Sarah - really enjoyed reading your posts of your emigration journey and so pleased to read you are enjoying your new life in Australia. Good luck with everything.
  24. Brilliant news for you guys. Congratulations!
