I'm not getting a lot of time to post recently due to work kids etc but I found this forum fantastic and wanted to give an update of how we are ..... "Living The Dream" Arrived 1st November 2013.... 457 visa my wife is MH Nurse and I'm a nobody lol and we have 3 kids 15,9,4 Housing.... Stayed with friends for a whole month and they were fantastic with us up in Alkimos. Even used their car for week or so till we got ours. The rental market was just quite simply horrendous and estate agents are certainly not user friendly. They were only interested in getting people through the doors on open houses and recommending people who has 3-6 months deposits!!!! We settled for an extremely nice house in Aveley just outside Ellenbrook where the market was just a bit less aggressive. Biggest regret we settled for a house without a pool just so we could get a house. However by the end of this year we hope to buy and have a pool! Visas & Jobs Wife loves job and already has been told they'll support her to get onto PR visa. A colleague of hers went from 457 to PR in 4 months so here's hoping !!!! Most things been ok with temp visa however I found it hard to get 2nd job after Xmas due to this I reckon. I got a job a week after I arrived but it was horrific and really disheartened me, lack of management, no internal structures, no training at all !!!!! However now went back to car sales and work where I bought my car as it came up and they knew me enough to take a chance lol(details on other thread if you need help or advice) and I love it do much now they can't get me to take a day off lol Schooling 15 and 9 year old only lasted 2 days at their schools and hated it !!!!! A few issues but we took them out and enrolled in private school and started last week. Seem more settled now and I get a smile as the 15 year old leaves home with pretty dress, no make up, hair in a bobble, proper school bag !!!!!!!! (Yesssss ) Wee man of 4 just loves kindy so he's sorted now they all at same school. Swan Anglican Cost wise we are $1300 a month for 3 kids so not at all that bad apart from the $800 for books etc and same again for uniforms lol Cost of living Ok yes it's dearer for food , way dearer for alcohol lol BUT we earn better so we are living a similar life as we did in UK and that was my first ambition.... Oh and yeah renting is just stupidly expensive lol Out and about Done quite a bit, free prison, cottesloe a few times Bought season passes to Splash Water park at Bullsbrook which was brilliant investment Spent Australia Day at Langley Park from 2pm to 10pm and was best best day of my life.... Oh yeah note to self next year remember to take beverages as I stupidly thought I'd be able to get a beer there lol do it was a water and soft drink day lol Spent last Sunday at adventure world and yet another brilliant day Socially We're not over active but spend slot of time with friends in Ellenbrook and other friends in Alkimos. We have no family here and have never been before so it will take time. Also with my long hours and wife's shifts it is a bit difficult I've not had chance to play/coach football yet which I was very keen to do, particularly coaching however with our working hours that will have to wait. I think you will save money just remember you also pay duty on it when u get here but I'm sure you knew that lol

I sold a BMW 120i with 78,000 k's for $23888 it was a 2007 with added M3 kit... Nice car My colleague sold an X5 7 seater 320d I think it was 2009 with 80,000k's for $49,888.... However trade ins are decent as well I bought a 2008 focus hatch for $8k Just to give u an idea

Hi guys thanks for the replies.... To give u an idea what I've found is the used car market is a string one here....there are brilliant deals on new cars ie to compare to your vectra I can supply a new Focus 2.0 trend which has alloys, aircon(obviously) and rear parking sensors in a manual for $18,490 and they are extremely popular..... I'd honestly say unless your car is something special, like BMW Merc Audi, sell it in UK and bank the money..... However everyone has there own opinions that's just mine.... I can speak from experience as I bought focus as soon as we arrived!!!!!!! Remember I'll give you as much advice as possible wether you buy a car or not as I know how daunting it can be..... I've also been surprised at how aggressive some garages are (again my experience not a sales pitch lol) Hope this helps a little

Oh well busy day as we got the keys for our rental in Aveley, after getting frustrated by 100 open houses we settled for no pool much to the kids disappointment, and as you do got offered two rentals within an hour lol, I started work today which was good to get that day done , my 9 year old started Aveley Primary and had a great day, expensive bloody uniform may I add, and the 14 year old starts Ellenbrook high on Wednesday, yet more expensive uniform lol.....and you have to pay money towards most subjects during both semesters....that's a scam Must say yet again it's all about the money going out the way...... But I'm still loving being here Oh and my daughter walked in and got a job in hair salon at shops on a Saturday so that will keep her out of my way and she can earn .....as well as just spending !!!! One downside is my bus and train commute every day to CBD but hey ho that's just life :-) Ps it's actually quite an empty rental as out container doesn't arrive in Freo until 23rd nov.......

Nikki's I just spent the whole day in Ellenbrook, 2 sets friends there who love it and we are hoping to rent there also as we feel it has everything we need.... Have to agree it's just been randomly plonked down lol and still needs to develop an atmosphere as such but I do think it ticks lots boxes Allan

Great day in Perth now got the bank accounts sorted and hopefully got a really nice car to get tmrw morning... Great help at bank Went for Westpac, also guy from car garage gave me name of guy at garage next door in case I preferred a car there.... So helpful so far Although it was $50 for a mcdonalds lol family if £5.... But but but... Not complaining as love every minute if being here

Oh my god ..... We are here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be brief as I'm sleepy but I know I'm in the same timezone as some of you now lol Glasgow BA flight to London flight delayed due to broken pilots seatbelt!!!! One hour on the runway so on arrival at Heathrow at 9 instead of 8am..... By the time we got off and got connection bused it was a Scottish sprint to get to the Singapore gate before it closed but made it and was one of last passengers to embark. Singapore Airlines highly recommended for us and kids, extremely smooth flight and nice staff. Same from Singapore to Perth.... Friends collected us... (No sniffer dogs or strip search at diac , gutted had even put clean undies on).... On way north to Alkimos where they stay baked a bit but loved it loved it loved it ....... Dinner was a BBQ.... I mean what else.... So here safe and sound and still cannae believe it...... But already loving it

That's us now leaving Glasgow a Airport, been here since 4am and so far so good.... Next stop Heathrow then Singapore and then..... Perth ...... See yah all soon
