  1. It does differ for different Visa's, we submitted our 189 Visa on the 27th April and we were assigned a CO on the 14th May so we were just over 2 weeks for ours to be assigned. Hope this helps Thanks
  2. I don't think that is the case, as our son was only 9 months at the time and he required a medical. He didn't get blood taken or an x-ray but he did get fully checked out and weight and height taken etc. Hope that helps Thanks
  3. Hi all Further to my wife's last post about 189 Visa's, I've now had a response from Engineers Australia! It took around 8 weeks from posting from uk going down the Washington Accord route. Anyway, I applied on the basis of ANZSCO Code 233215 - Transport Engineer which I have a relevant honours degree in and have been working for almost 7 years now. EA came back saying I wasn't able to be assessed under Washington Accord, but could be assessed as an Engineering Technologist (ANZSCO 233914) under Sydney Accord. My degree and experience satisfy current the academic requirement for the latter. My problem is that we planned to apply for State sponsorship in WA as a Transport Engineer and are therefore reluctant to submit our EOI using the Engineering Technologist. Does anyone have similar experience? Can I submit the EOI using as a Transport Engineer knowing this contradicts the occupational classification I have been advised is appropriate? Would doing this mean the EOI would be incorrect/invalid? Thanks
  4. As his degree was recognised by the Washington Accord I'm hoping to have his skills assessment complete within a month or so, he is a transport engineer so I'm hoping he will find work ok within Perth. thanks for the help & sharing your advice.
  5. His degree was recognised by the Washington Accord so I'm hoping we will have his skills assessment complete within a few weeks. thanks for the help
  6. Hi Danuty, Thanks for the reply, we have sent his skills assessment away already so we are hoping to have this back within a few weeks. If you don't mind me asking what skills assessment form did you complete? We completed the Australian Engineers skills form, we had to send away quite a few certified docs to prove his degree and courses etc that he had completed. Was your qualifications accredited? Why did it take 4 months to complete your skills assessment? Sorry for all the questions, I just didn't think it would take that long. Thanks for your help Elaine
  7. Hi Rebecca, That is not the impression I am under, when reading through the points table my understanding is that you don't get any additional points if your first language is english. My understanding is that you only get additional points if you undertake the additional english tests which is what we are doing, I guess it would be good to get it clarified by someone. We were speaking with an agent and trying to get as much info out of him and he had said they way we worked our points score out was based on us completing the additional english tests. Where did you read that you would get 20 points if you had a UK passport and english was your first langauge? Thanks Elaine
  8. Hi Chris, That's what we have figured out, we are getting all my husband's documents certified today so we can send away for his skills assessment by the weekend and then we are going to book him for his IELTS. Thanks for the advice Elaine
  9. Hello, I have just joined so I am hoping everyone will be able to provide me with lots of help and advice, we are looking to move to Perth as we spent some time their last year and we loved it. My husband is a traffic engineer and we have researched that this is on the skill select occupations and that we would be eligible to apply for a 189 Visa. We have looked in the agency route but I sort of grudge paying them. I think the first step is for my husband to complete a skills assessment with engineers Australia but I am not 100% sure, could anybody confirm this. Has anybody been through the 189 Visa process, if anyone has any hints or tips it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Elaine
