So Santa Fe, That Little Mexican Place and Pancho's don't do Mexican?

What do you class as a 'British' pub? Inner city Weatherspoons? Selling 'cheap' 'Australian' larger, smokers outside in the cold, smell of BO and cheap aftershave and the nightly closing time fight? Or a pub in the middle of nowhere, selling rubbish food, 37 types of bitter, and a beer garden full of sunburnt kids and wasps? Perth is mainly bars. There are a few places that are more pub than bar though. Plenty of places to sit outside with a pint in the city, even though land space it at a premium. Plenty of pubs in the suburbs too.

Yup, bought two of these this winter off Gumtree (Harvey Norman wanted almost $700). Awesome heaters. Means the washing gets dry pretty quick too.

Ellenbrook is quite hard to get to from the CBD as there are no major roads. So anything half way between is still a chore. And it's no where near the beach. I'd almost suggest Guildford (if you can put up with the planes and trains), as then you could commute to the CBD on the train, it's quick-ish to get up to Ellenbrook, and you've the river as a replacement for the beach. Or I'd look around the Freeway/Reid junction .. but then, I wouldn't.

AC on heat, and a 7 bar gas fire.

For a rough idea .. $700 x5 x48 = $168k, $1200 x5 x48 = $288k

Annual: 168000 288000

Limit: 80,000.00 180,000.00

Tax Due: 17,547.00 54,547.00

Top limit: 0.37 0.45

Medicare: 3,360.00 5,760.00

Total: 50,107.00 103,147.00

%age: 0.30 0.36

Net Annual: 112,013.00 174,773.00

Month: 9,614.42 15,044.42

Tax: 4,175.58 8,595.58

Medicare 280.00 480.00

*You'll also need to factor Super in .. currently at 9.5% I think.

Business tax is 30% (I think). For the rest, I have this table :-

Tax Limit: Tax Due: %

$18,200 $0 19.0%

$37,000 $3,572 32.5%

$80,000 $17,547 37.0%

$180,000 $54,547 45.0%

I'm a contractor. I started my own company, registered with the ATO. It's a lot simpler to be a Sole Trader, but I couldn't do that for certain reasons. I work out my hourly rate, x40 hours a week, x48 weeks a year. I invoice +GST (as I'm over 80k which is the tax free threshold). Every month I pay myself a salary, pay myself super. I then pay the tax office my PAYG tax & Medicare. Every quarter I pay my GST. At the end of the year I then get my accountant to settle up.

Wouldn't fancy riding that far every day. Wind, flies, sun, rain .. If you are after the big apartment blocks, have a look at East Perth, Burswood, or maybe the tower behind Raffles on the Canning Highway.

It's been asked a few times, and my answer is always the same. 991 Turbo, as new as you can afford. (if you can get a 964, I'll take it off your hands when you get here).

There are a few about, but an I6 is an I6 .. I recon it'd be just as hard to get parts in the UK now. I'm sure if you get down to Cars & Coffee in Freo you'll see at least one. I always wanted a Sagaris, and prices seem to be climbing in the UK. I believe there is one in Aus, out in Sydney. I'd love one (with an LS engine swap).

I've been refused the free drinks before. Apparently, you have to wait for them to take off first. (that's actually a true story)

Perth ranked 9th most liveable city in the world again
Bibbs replied to Admin's topic in News & Chat
Think it's in the "discussion" phase :- https://www.mainroads.wa.gov.au/BuildingRoads/Projects/planning/Pages/mitchell.aspx#.U_VfvPmSx8E https://www.mainroads.wa.gov.au/BuildingRoads/Projects/UrbanProjects/Pages/Mitchell-Freeway-Ext.aspx#.U_VhxPmSx8E Really, they need to first sort out the CBD/Northbridge connection, new bus station, new stadium, Liz's pond, the airport rail link, Tonkin, Swan bypass .. -

It's about Perth, not south Geraldton .. ;-) Anyhow, wait a month, and you'll have a train. http://www.pta.wa.gov.au/projects/butlerextensionproject/tabid/245/default.aspx 3 months early, and $20 million under budget. -
Slight correction, it's Budget. Can kinda see it here. https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-31.951623,115.851027,3a,75y,8.33h,84.11t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1s5Gekjskuq_q5KdIl_mXwQw!2e0 I'll take a pic at some point.

Have you seen the red one @ Hertz at the top of Hay St in the city? Don't know if it's a real one, but I smile every time I see it.

Best long haul plane I've been on. Getting off the 380 and getting on a 777 for the Sing -> Perth leg really reminded me how noisy the 777 is.
-
Agree with that. Get an apartment/unit fairly central (I say an apartment as then you don't have weekends wasted gardening either) and then get out to areas north and south and look at these areas.
-
Wouldn't bother. If it was something rare and older or classic (pre 90's) or sporty (Ferrari, Porsche, Aston) I would, but anything that is a common modern car I wouldn't. Maybe you could pick up a 964 Turbo for me and bring that?

HSV GTS. Had this too, but the wife is taking it in the divorce : Toytoa Hilux SR5 (4.0)

Get down cash and carry. They have the big boxes of them.

Stir fried chilli beef & crispy seaweed. Every Chinese takeaway in the UK does it, not seen it here. Took me a while to find a Vindaloo made with coconut milk (found one eventually). I have to make them myself, but it's not the same at 2am, drunk on a Saturday morning.
