In what universe do salt and vinegar crisps come in pink packets???
Bibbs replied to funkft's topic in News & Chat
Wipers on the right is generally from cars from Europe. They don't bother to swap them when the wheel housing is moved over as it's too expensive. In a right hand drive car, the indicators are on the right, so you can change gear, and indicate at the same time. As we are mainly local, or Japanese cars here (who also drive on the correct side of the road) most the cars are setup correctly. EDIT - to add, the red tips are a 'brand' or trademark for a company growing the top quality bananas. -
Why Perth? Because I was born here.

ANZ required 12 months of self employment, including one end of year tax return. They also offered something like x12 salary too. It was some horrendous multiple anyway. They were the only bank at the time that would do under 24months.

Think you are right, it may be back after 2015 though. But again, maybe not Perth.

I find you always manage to live within your means. If you are in the $200k range, you should be able to afford a nice apartment, and have nice cars and be able to get away often. Saving should be too hard, but you'll still not be able to buy big in the western suburbs. In experience 70k GBP is comparable to about 160k AUD (without kids helps). But it's also down to the salary split, as one person on 150k and one on 10k will pay more tax in total, than two on 80k.

There is also 'Big Day Out' and 'Soundwave' .. the latter being more rock. Both are single dayers though. http://www.bigdayout.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Day_Out_lineups_by_year http://soundwavefestival.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soundwave_(Australian_music_festival)

I take it from your location, you are coming from the south. The freeways will be slow from about 6:30 till about 9 in the morning. and then from 4 till about 7 in the evenings. Not UK bad, but stop start. The trains are fairly packed on the Mandurah/Joondalup lines from about 6:30 onwards. Okay if you are at the first stop, not so good if you are only 2 or 3 out from the CBD. Also, wouldn't it be better if he left the car at home, rather than at work?

Bibbs replied to Chris&Claire's topic in Recreation & Socialising
I'm just round the corner in Bayswater. Head to Beauford St, in Mt Lawley. Plenty of places to socialise. Or drop me a PM, if you fancy a beer. -

Apparently they were heading further south, but were diverted north due to a storm.

From reading around, it seems like the Rebals (Russians) were trying to shoot a Ukrainian cargo plane. Quite a few other airlines were avoiding the area. A lot of the passengers were coming to Aus, for an AIDS conference.

I know no one will care but .. .. getting divorced in WA is a ball ache. All the forms have different requirements to the rest of Australia. So don't download the Australia ones and fill them in, as you'll have to do it all over again. Also don't try and transfer ownership of a car you forgot to rego 5 months ago. They don't like that. They tend to fine you and you have to put the car over the pits and hand your plates back.

I've bought 2 of these in the last month. I've also a lot of double blinds (verticals left up, Romans over the top), and in the summer made sure there were no gaps in frames. Just to stop air movement near the windows. I'm in jumpers every day, and I'll not shed them till it hits 30.

This weekend I ended up in the Margaret River Chocolate factory store out east (after a day driving in the hills). Was very good, had tastings, a wide selection of stuff .. they even have an area to watch them make the stuff. http://www.chocolatefactory.com.au/maps--contact-details/Swan-Valley

NP, it's kinda my area (I'm a bit closer to the train line), but drive through the area often. The junction with Wannaroo road was busiest last night (about 5/6pm).
-
Beauford St for eating, Morley is the closest major shopping centre (Myer, Woolies, Coles). Ossie Park is there for bigger stuff (Ikea, Harvey Norman) Morley Drive and Karrinyup Road can get busy at the main junctions during rush hour.

I think I've always been having one. I'm in my late 30's, no kids. Always spent my money on cars and toys. Never had a 'normal' car, started with a hot hatch, but then went to sports cars, big 4x4's and now a V8. Always been a hoon. Maybe my mid-life crisis was being sensible and buying a house a few years back?

In a word, "depends". Financial services is mainly an East Coast thing. But what skill do you have? Fancy being a consultant in AX or similar? I was a VB6 and basic SQL developer, I'm now doing .NET, and got DBA qualified. But I got the job first, and got the skills after.

Book your flights. Then you have a deadline to get everything done. Then kick back, have a drink to celebrate, and wait till the last minute to get stuff done.
-
Depends when your shift starts. It's fine till about 7, then rubbish till after 9. In the evenings, from about 3 till 6. On Fridays, its worse as people try and get out the city for the weekend. If you can get close to Stirling Station, and get the train, it's under 30 mins to Murdoch.

The four big sellers in WA are still are the Toyota Corolla, Mazda 3, the Toyota Hilux and the Holden Commodore (IIRC). For Australia as a whole :- http://www.caradvice.com.au/265366/car-sales-2013-toyota-corolla-steals-title-australias-popular-car/ Korean stuff is getting popular too, and the Jeeps are advertised a lot. As the saying goes, "Go out in a Land Rover, come home in a Land Cruiser".

A mate is selling one. It's not a cheapie though and would require a van of some sort to move.

If it's modern it'll be fine. Worst case you use it with HDMI with a FoxTel or Freebie box. Only issue might be, if it doesn't have 'Australia' listed as a country the internal clock may need adjusting for the program guide.

As of last year .. http://ypphupdates.wordpress.com/2013/07/25/transmissometers-to-be-installed-at-perth-airport/ Perth Airport is consulting with Airservices Australia on upgrading the current Category – 1 Instrument Landing System to a Category – 3 which deems zero visibility landings. Currently, Melbourne is the only Australian city to have this technology. So Melb got theirs in 2008, no others have gone in yet. Not even Sydney. I believe Perth is next on the list.
