  1. Hey Alana Rose Me and my husband moved out here 8 weeks ago and just moved into a long term rental in Connolly last week. It really is lovely here! If you fancy meeting up for a coffee and a chat once you arrive please feel free to contact me. Good luck with the move. Gillian
  2. Hi Steve & Amanda Me (Gillian 35) and my husband (James 39) moved to Perth 8 weeks ago and are keen to meet up with people. We are living in Connolly at the moment so if you do arrange something give us a shout.
  3. No way!! haha that is really spooky!!
  4. Thanks!! It is such a relief to be able start putting dates on things rather saying if or when we get our visa! i have to say I haven't heard of there being a minimum amount of funds you should have in your bank account we were never asked anything like this. It just so happens that we do have more than the amounts you have specified but nowhere have I read that it's a legal requirement. Good luck with everything :-)
  5. Wow this must be so frustrating for you!! We had our medicals on the 5th March and our visa was granted on the 12th March. I hope you hear something soon, good luck!!
  6. Hey McKennasul, I have to admit I found the IELTS test to be a pain in the backside. I am an accountant and initially sat the academic and missed out on 0.5 point on the reading test. I the did the general test and missed out by 0.5 twice on the listening test so, on my final attempt I changed test centre and did loads of practice. It sounds ridiculous that I couldn't do it especially after doing 14 accountancy exams but it wasn't as straight forward as I expected it to be. I actually used Thames Migration and they were fantastic. I personally would recommend using an agent but I had a good experience with Thames and the skills assessment was quite a tedious process so I was glad to have them take some of the pressure off. Good luck with everything
  7. Thanks Lisa P!! We used Thames Migration and they were fantastic definitely worth the money. We had a few bumps along the way and they made it a lot easier to deal with.
  8. Great to hear you are loving Perth!! I just had my 190 visa granted on Tuesday and me and the hubby are so excited, in fact we still can't believe it's real after all of the hard work that has gone into the whole process!! We will be moving mid August and it can't come quick enough.
  9. Hi msjguk My husband and I will be moving to Perth in August and we bring our 7 year old staffie (Neo) with us. We will be using PetAir UK as I have read many good things about their service and we have spoken to them a couple of times on the phone. The only down side is the Perth quarantine is currenly closed due to bushfires so Neo will have to do his quarantine in Sydney for 30 days then will be flown to perth for us to collect him, not ideal but there is no chance I could ever leave him behind so its got to be done.
  10. Thanks guys!! The skills assessment and the IELTS test proved to be very testing last year and we were also hit with the July 2012 changes to the points system so lets just say, 2012 was frustrating at times but, since we submitted in January it all went so quick! Good luck with the skills assessment Monkeylloyd and hope your meeting goes well CarolineD82!!
  11. Hello all, I received an email on Tuesday confirming that my 190 has been granted! My husband and I screamed the house down in excitement. After spending most of last year getting everything together we finally submitted our application in January and it has all happened so quickly, I still can't believe we've done it! Now the planning can finally begin. All being well we hope to be in perth mid August.....woohooo!!
  12. That's fantastic news!! Also great to hear that about the Bridgewater as me and my hubby are having our medicals done there on Tuesday. Hopefully our visa will through just as quick!!
  13. We will stay with family in the South (Beckenham) until we find a rental. We've got a 7 year old staffie to move over so will need a pet friendly rental!! Hubby has got a job to go to in Joondalup which is great! Can't wait to get there......scary but very exciting!
  14. Hi there, I am also moving to Perth, hopefully around June/July time. We are doing our medicals on Tuesday and just waiting to get our police checks back. Where abouts in Perth are you planning to go? :smile2:
