  3. Hi all, i have been in perth for a few months now and its time to become self employed, what is all involved in setting up ? i have applied for the TFN, (incase i work for some one else through the books) but on trying to register for an ABN, it was asking what type of associate the buisness would be? but i couldnt find the type that suited best. i will be self employed as a tradie! can any one give me any advice? also are there other numbers that i need to register for? i was self employed in the uk for a long time but this dosent seem to be as simple over here, any advice would be fantastic, thanks in advance.
  4. Hello, I recently emigrated to WA. With my family, ( wife & my little girl, after taking time to decide on a location, and when to make the move down under we eventually made it at the end of August, 3 weeks in and things are going well and really enjoying this adventure so far. I am a carpenter to trade and am going to start looking for my own work covering all aspects of the trade. I understand a lot of people on this site have possibly not made the move yet but for any families that have and may be looking for a carpenter for any job at all then I would be more than willing to quote any job ( no matter what size of project this maybe) all internal works, bathrooms and kitchens , external works including decking areas and much more. With a very fast, friendly & efficient service including extremely competitive prices please do not hesitate to contact myself, I am based in mandurah but can cover many areas . Drop me a message for further detail. Many thanks
  5. Hi chris. I was in the same situation, I only done the ielts once and missed out by half a mark, but I was we'll against doing it again so I went for the 489 visa and I am now here on it , I am a carpenter to trade and living in mandurah , only been here for 2 weeks but there seems to be a lot of work happening , I'm confident il find something regional, good luck with what ever you do
  6. Congrats on getting your visa andy, when are you planning on heading out? Do you have a rental etc lined up?
  7. Hi kimmy, yea we need to be at the rental between office hours, also we were advised to just get a hotel at the airport, to get some sleep and head down to mandurah the following day, so we may hire a car at the airport but im going to imagine they will be expensive?
  8. we have no idea where to settle long term, have heard many nice things about meadow springs tho :-)
  9. Hi there, that would be great, we dont know yet where we want to settle long term, im sure we will do alot of searching and viewing places when we arrive, we will need to hire a car so if you happen to come across any car rentals that would be much appreciated, we are also on a 489 , 2 weeks today roll on :-)
  10. Floorman, we are going to Mandurah in 2 weeks and our short term rental was only booked last week, me are paying $650 p/w its more expensive than a long term rental but we will take that for 4 weeks while we look for long term, we booked through Mandurah holiday rentals .com good luck mate
  11. Hi Kimmy, thats all good to hear, only downside is we land at 0055 so we have to go into a hotel at the airport which is not the cheapest, however its one of these things cant wait to get there 2 weeks tomorrow :-)
  12. Hi There, i have done that but it seems to be going to the bottom of the pile lol, i may go and bump it up (ha ha ) thanks again
