  1. I phoned them a few weeks ago to get connected and they gave me the first month of Platinum for free. I wasn't going to order that package.I still had to pay for my IQ box and installation though which cost $150.Good luck!
  2. Thanks Jo - it feels great!!

    Booked!!!

Well after 6 years of planning and what seems like even longer waiting, we've booked our flights. We arrive in Perth on 20 September and absolutely cannot wait!! Short-term accommodation in West Perth has been secured and looks great. Slightly nervous in that neither of us have jobs lined up yet - we've still got 2 months to sort that though. Even if we don't have something lined up before we go, we're pretty sure it'll be easier to secure something once we're there. Just counting down the days now until WE LIVE IN AUSTRALIA!!!!
  4. Thanks for the input folks. I think. I'm only looking at being there short term (4-6 weeks) when I first arrive in Perth but by the sounds of the conversation above, I'll be able to pay by the hour
  5. Hi, just wondered if anyone had any info about this area in Perth? we've found a really reasonable short-term rental there but had never heard of the area. Had a quick look online and reviews are really mixed (to say the least!!). Any info much appreciated
  6. Hello, I posted last week that our visa had been granted, so thought I would update our timeline as requested by a few folk! If I've done it right then it should be at the bottom of this post! Today has been productively spent having a big clear out, and sending out a lot of CVs! Spare room is now sorted into piles of stuff to come with us, stuff to sell and stuff to give away! Next few weeks are going to be busy but so excited about it all!
  7. CharliePappa - we got our YES today! Hope you get yours soon too.
  8. We were allocated a Case Officer today -2 weeks and 2 days after submitting our SS application. Unfortunately, the CO needs more info and has told us that as a couple, we are expected to have resettlement funds of at least $30k. Not too sure where they've plucked this figure from because it has absolutely no relation to our lifestyle and cost info that we sent them. I thought the idea was that I was to evidence that we could sustain ourselves in WA for a period of 3 months?
  9. Congratulations! What visa did you go for and how long was it from applying until it being granted?
  10. Hello folks, We have logged our application for sponsorship with WA and their website states current processing time is 30 working days - just wondering what people's experiences are? Is it the full 30 working days or are things being turned around any quicker? As soon as this is approved (I hope!) then we can get our visa application in! Thanks!
  11. Morning Folks, My wife and I should hopefully be making the move to sunny Perth within the next 6 months. At present we live in rented accommodation in the UK but we have quite a lot of our own furniture. Most of our stuff is Ikea or Argos though so don't think it'd justify the cost of using a shipping company or container when we can just replace our furniture once we're in Australia. The plan is to sell most of our belongings before we leave the UK and only send personal effects (CD's picture frames, ornaments, etc) to Australia. Can anyone recommend any CHEAP seamail companies? Also, where would I send my stuff to? Seems like a daft question but we plan on a short term let for the first month or so before moving to a more long term let! Any help much appreciated!!
