  1. Hi mate. We came on my visa permanent residency 190. I'm a welder to trade so falls under a skilled migrant something or other. But it's a 190 visa for sure permanent residency. My gf never had her trade papers available give and I did so we both came on my trade. Hope this helps stephen
  2. G'day all!! moved to perth on 5th of February and it's been a whirlwind few months. I'm a welder to trade and my partners a hairdresser. Both in our mid 20s. After 2 weeks of being here I landed a 6 week shutdown job and my partner got a permanent job in a hair salon. My job was crazy hours 7 days a week but also crazy money which boosted the savings. While in this job I was still looking for jobs elsewhere as like I say it was only a 6 week job, fortunately with about 2 weeks left I landed a permanent job as an NDT technician. The job is great with a company car being one of it's best perks. We are staying with my girlfriends sister in Carramar and are managing to save a lot while there. We've made a few friends and are still adapting. Recently we put a deposit down on land in Yanchep golf estate and are just basically waiting on finance approval so fingers crossed. So far everything has went perfectly to plan but it's still early days! Perth itself hasn't disappointed, apart from the traffic everywhere. The infrastructure here is pretty shambolic for a place that is rapidly expanding. Yes it is expensive but in the right job you are well prepared for it financially. Beaches are breath taking my favourite being Mullalloo so far. I've been here and still haven't seen places like Fremantle yet but time is on my side. Weather has cooled down now, we arrived at end of summer but even that was enough to warn us what it's going to be like in peak summer but I still can't wait. Escaping the miserable Scottish weather was one of the big bonuses of this move so I can't complain. Finally......how on earth does that AFL work!? I just can't get into it!!
  3. Oh my! This is it. February the 5th the new life begins....
  4. Hi there me and my girlfriend just got our visa granted and we went down the 190 route. I am a welder and she was my defacto. I to had to do a skilled vettassess test, overall the whole process from start to finish cost us over £7000 pound. But I dont regret a penny. We leave for perth on 5th February best of luck
  5. Thanks alot I'm sure it will fly in for you, it seemed to for us, on most parts anyway! Best of luck with it all and I'll have an update in the not to distant future
  6. Can't believe it, after almost a year of being on this forum and sitting watching with envy as others jumped onto a plane and lived out their dream move it is now our turn. Me and my gf had our Visa granted this morning and are now going to book our flights in next 24 hours. We should be in Perth in about 4-5 weeks time. I'm a welder and my girlfriend is a hairdresser (not fishing for homers honest ) we are both in our mid 20s and can't wait to start our new lives together. Anyone in similar circumstances or even if your not, who live near Joondalup or Tapping area we would love to hear from you as we are looking forward to meeting new friends to start this scar scary adventure with Stephen & Ashley
  7. I did tell them about it, and by the way im 27 if that makes me a "youth" then happy days
  8. Hi All Me and my partner are now just waiting on our police checks to come through after having confirmation on passing our medicals. I am looking for some reassurance about these police checks off anyone. Me or my partner have never been in bother with the police in our lives apart from the odd run in with traffic police (Who hasnt!?) up until this year. Unfortunately at the start of the year I got myself caught up in a silly incident which led to me spending the night in jail for the first time in my life. However I was never taken to court or anything like that and about a month later i got a letter for a £50 fine which I paid. So this avoided me getting a criminal record and now here we are, weeks away from getting a visa and after just having got my redundancy approved in work for new year we are looking to be in perth in February. So does anyone think I should be concerned about this or am I worrying over nothing? All replys welcome
  9. Thank you for both replies, must admit I feel slightly relieved that im not the only one haha! Between going for your medical and being granted a visa what was roughly your time scale? Sorry for the questions but coming on this every other day and my jealousy gets worse of those people who have their visas or who have now made the move haha!
  10. Hi All! Its been officially over 3 weeks now since me and my girlfriend applied for our Visas and basically are now waiting on the shout to go for Medicals and police checks. The police checks don't worry me as we dont have a criminal record however I cant help but worry about the medicals. Although we are both in our mid 20s and are healthy im just panicking (and probably being stupid) that something might come up! No doubt my head just doing overtime as this is basically the last obstacle in our way now! Can anyone tell me what their experience of the medical was and if they also where an idiot like me and worried for no reason haha Stephen
  11. We we have made our EOI, they've came back and told us everything's good to go. So now we are just waiting on to be invited to apply for our Visas. They said it normally takes 1-2 weeks for them to come back, it's been about 10 days roughly so any day now we will be applying and hopefully in about 5 weeks time it will be the medicals and police checks . We started the process in April and are surprised but happy also that it has went so fast. We're looking to move roughly in the spring time
  12. Hi there We are also going on a 190 visa (permanent residency) and are just waiting on an email any day now. We are using Overseas Emigration based in Edinburgh but me and my girlfriend are from Glasgow, what about you?
  13. Hi all been a while since my last post, been busy getting through all the processes of this emigration. There is now light at the end of the tunnel as any day now i expect to be told to officially apply for our visas. So excited. Has anyone just been granted their visa recently and can tell me how long they waited for it? My emigration agent says they are taking about 5-6 weeks at the moment. Just wondered if anyone has waited longer???
  14. Hi all Sat my technical interview on tuesday for my skills assessment, felt i done okay but the usual nerves and doubt started to kick in afterwards. The "what ifs" where driving me crazy. I was told id find out the result within 10 days. Yesterday (2 days after test) i couldn't resist logging on to vetassess website to check, and there it was "Successful" in green letters. PHEW next step now is applying for the visas, im so excited this is another step closer, however ive heard some people have had their visas granted after 6 weeks and others are telling me 6 months....is this possible?
  15. After what felt like a lifetime of a wait, I got the email at the start of the week telling me I've to go to Edinburgh for my technical interview. I was on a few weeks back asking if anyone had done it before, it's a 2 hour long interview with an Australian assessor with a background in my trade (Welder) can't wait till Tuesday to get it over and done with. Hopefully be another step closer....

    Hello

Hi and welcome, me and my partner are in the middle of the process right now, any queries I have I just come on here and almost every time someone has advice or an answer so don't be shy
  17. I am a welder, yes I have heard this to. I'm from Glasgow so the travel to London would be a nightmare so the fact I can now go to Edinburgh for this interview is much much better! best wishes for your OH
  18. My paperwork has been processed and I was planning doing my trade test in London next available chance. Now my emigration agent has told me I can now do a 2 hour long interview instead. It's with an Australian assessor and it will be held through Skype. Has anyone ever done this? Looking for any feedback possible thanks
  19. HaHa Congratulations! What skills test did you sit!?
  20. Welcome to the forum! Im 26 and my gf is 24. Im a welder and she is a hairdresser, were currently in the process of getting a stae sponsored permanenet residency visa (190). I think you should enquire about this, were going as a couple so only one of us has to meet the criteria for this visa which is myself. However you have to show proof that you are a couple which includes living at the same address for over year, thankfully we have this but unfortunately you wont have yet, maybe theres a way round this? I have a good emigration officer so he tells me all the ins and outs, do you have one? Good call on the football front...ill be looking to do the same when I eventually get there! Best of Luck
  21. Thanks alot for this, was a big help
  22. Hi all! Going through the process of applying for my 190 visa, when I move I plan to rent my flat out and was just wondering if trying to buy/build in Perth will be affected by the fact I have a mortgage back here? I have been told it shouldnt however just want to double check. Can anyone help??

    nervous

Hi and Welcome! I had been contemplating the move for a while now, im 26 and my gf is 24, im a welder and she is a hairdresser. After debating for so long I eventually went to Perth on holiday March 21st for 3 weeks, I actually got back last week. We stayed with my girlfriends family who live in tapping and now that im back I can honestly say I fell in love with the place. I have now started the process of emigrating and I am absolutely buzzing for it. I am not saying for a second that deep down there isnt a pit of nerves because there is, but the way I look at it thats all part of the excitement, I am fortunate to have family to move in with when I go there so I understand i maybe have less worry than others. If you go through with it there will probably be times when you will be feeling down or thinking "what the hell have I done" but I imagine thats only natural and you must instantly think of the bigger picture. Best of luck and im sure you will do the right thing by your family! Stephen
  24. Thanks for the reply this was very helpful. But I am worried that I have to do tig welding, as I am not trained on this! Did you have to do any?
