Hi, I didn't apply on line but I did get an email about a week after I submitted my application saying case officer assigned please organise medical. So I'd wait for an email.

We're thinking of staying up here in the Scarborough area, the beach is fantastic and so pretty, although if work takes us elsewhere that might change. We didn't think much of it here when we called in a few years ago but it's funny once you live somewhere and get abit involved that you see how lovely a place can be. Freo has an amazing music scene, and we're big into all that, be great for you coming from Manchester x

We've been here 3 weeks and nothing so far, I'm in Customer service and my fellas a spark so he's still jumping through hoops and will be for a while yet. There seems to be work here but everything takes time. I would def say to budget for 3 months, it's amazing how fast the time goes, and obviously you'll be shelling out the dollars to set up too. We're currently staying with friends so we've saved on that front but we don't want to outstay our welcome so are looking for our own place which again isn't cheap!! I would say bring all your spare cash, you'll need it! But it's still a fantastic place to be, and will be worth it. X

Hi Sam, we're from Wrexham up North, loving it and the heat. Job hunting it at the moment which is taking up most of our time. Meet up would be great, where are you gonna be staying? Bet your counting down the days!

What to take and what not to take

Trainers, if you like decent ones, pretty expensive over here. -
Apologies, I didn't mean to come across rude.

To be honest I hardly use my vapour cig but it's there if I need it and especially as we're doing a lot of drinking/socialising at the moment when my resolve weakens, it comes in handy! I won't go back to smokes, I think the e cig has been my safety net the past few months. Ah and the eating thing I totally get..
-
Thanks, didn't think of that, will take a walk this arvo
-
With respect, I wasn't after the " you know it makes sense" lecture thanks.

Hi, I gave up smoking and now use an e cigarette with nicotine vapour. Stupidly I assumed you could buy these here as there so popular in the Uk. Apparently the liquid with nicotine is illegal to sell here and I've nearly ran out! I have some one bringing some over in March but was wondering if anyone could help me with in my search! It's not illegal to use by the way so it's not dodgy:notworthy: Any ideas ?

Nearly two years after deciding we wanted to move to Perth, today we landed!!! Was a great feeling walking out the airport to be greeted with blue skies, we've a lot to do, find a job etc but it will all come together in time. We're staying in Scarborough and hoping we might settle in this area so if anyone fancies a coffee/beer or even to watch the footy/6 nations (welshies) then give us a shout. Onwards and upwards...

Good advice Deb thank you. Have decided to ship an extra case for my winter clothes jackets etc I suddenly felt a huge relief knowing I wasn't parting with all my stuff! I'll prob still stand there saying " I've got nothing to wear!!!!!"

Boo that's the day we fly. -
I was on a health kick before Xmas, motivated for the move, then I moved back in with the folks and it quickly went down hill! They live on a farm so thick white bread, proper bacon and apple pie and custard is the staple diet... I've ditched the "skinny day clothes" .

Yes we did a few at the end of last year. Sold most stuff on the Facebook selling sites. We thought about sending a few boxes, we've boxed up all the things we wanted to keep, but we're gonna leave them here for now then if we do decide to settle over there then we'll send for them. Decided once it's gone I won't miss it!
-
That's the problem, we're not shipping anything! We sold everything. We're basically taking our life on the plane. I bought some scales and weighed one bag which is 20kilos so I have 10 left for "bits n pieces". And this is from a girl who loves clothes, it's been emotional!!! My reasoning is I can start again when I get there:biggrin: So anyone out there who likes a good shop, you know where I am

Trying to fit my life in a 30kilo bag We fly out on wed and this has been the most traumatic part.. Any advice ladies out there, what/what not to bring? I have fat/thin/good/bad/happy/sad day clothes...How do I choose?

Hi, me and my fella land on the 14th February (cute eh!) . We'll be staying in Scarborough and would be up for meeting for a beer pretty soon, mid 30s no kiddies. Give us a shout

My fellas a spark and he's just done his through Future Skills. It was a written exam and then an afternoon of practical. Started at 8am and finished 7 pm with a short 20 min break. He found it incredibly stressful and abit of a con as he's 17 yrs served but it had to be done. Thankfully he passed!!

Sorry to jump your thread but can guitars be taken on as hand luggage? Or can anyone recommend a courier? My fella is wary about shipping them as some of them are rare. We're not shipping any furniture so don't have a container, although we will be looking at shipping over some tools as he's a spark. Thanks

Aaarrgghhh.. I feel your nerves..

Help, Advice needed - Arriving in Perth in December!
Katarina replied to Zena's topic in News & Chat
Hi Zena, Gumtree is a good place to look for rentals, it will give you a good idea of costs, its also great for furniture etc it seems people use it more than ebay over there. For shipping have a look at Movecube Sevenseas. Dont think you can get driving license until you have utility bills as proof but I could be wrong on that one. You`ll need to get your TFN and medicare card once you get there. Good luck, were heading out in Jan, no kids and in our thirties.. Hats off to those who manage it with kids... -
