just been told the car and all the container has passed quarantine, so pleased. We now have to sort out the rego etc. but it did not need cleaning, which is a bonus.
-
it would Ann, but hubby still wants to be in the UK

just had my first bill for the container shipment with the car, $4 k, quarantine next week, wish me luck. Been for a stroll along Burns Beach today and had lunch in the cafe, as it has been such a lovely day for winter ? 25 degrees, this would be a good summer in the UK.

Arwen, how awful was that recent ? I too wonder about how they keep driving into homes. When I was first over they said corner house plots/ houses are harder to sell, where in the Uk people always wanted the corner house for more garden and only 1 neighbour, I did remark the other day is that why nobody wants the end house in case some idiot drives into it . In the uk you did hear about if something hit a house, mainly the wall outside, it was always in the local papers as well, but nothing like here.

We were don Mindarie yesterday at around 4 pm loads of people in the ocean, with their boards. The Marina there is always busy with boats in and out.

I have seen ads for agents though, in the windows of all places, they do say training given.Another line is selling the new builds. Hope all goes well for you, good luck with your move.

Butler has a quite a few properties that people bought for investment to rent out as the prices were good when the suburb was first going up, if you do venture there you will be surprised how nice it is, it has shops not all in a mall, the dome, a pub all by lakes and playgrounds instead of being all around houses this gives a nice feel when entering. Alkimos is a lot newer with smaller plots . The further you go north the prices are better then the prices catch up after time.

Sorry about this morning girls, still have to get lifts and DIL was busy at school, hopefully another time x -
Steely we did ours in the April as per the paperwork, yes it speeded up the process as everything was completed and ready for the money to be paid, however it did put the move to Oz very quick for us as we got the visa the first week of Jan and had to validate by April 23rd. If you are moving straight away then I would do medicals < mine took 2 months as I had to have a specialist report > the police checks were around 2 weeks, the AOS took about 6 weeks and a lot of my sons time.So yes it does speed up things for you.

they asked the question , if anything had changed ? they asked for me to complete an australian police check as I had spent over time more than 12 months in Oz. that came back within 48hrs, no hassle at all. They asked for the rest of the money, very quick. Hope you get here for christmas.

I love living " up North " been out today in what is so called "little britain" and had a wonderful time, lots of people about all said hi, really nice atmosphere. Been for a walk along the so called "would not live there " Quinns , and was followed by 4 dolphins enjoying themselves. Went to the shops in Joondalup on monday had a great morning.I will be catching the train into Perth tomorrow to catch the ferry to have a walk along the Swan river. We all think we have chosen the best either north or south, I personally think it is great here. -
hubby has his drivers license , I am due for a medical today to hopefully get mine < due to being to honest on the form !> but everything for the car is in his name, so should be ok, like you Laz I do everything .
-
Thanks Druid, I found the old thread too.
-
well I paid £60 for my notes and I am having my first doctors appt. tomorrow, taking my notes just in case.

we too had a newish car, and my hubby wanted to bring < i have to do the hard bit > I know we did not bring it for making money but we know the car and it saves us looking around , plus it wasn't that much more expensive in the container.
-
thanks Laz, it was the registration bit I was getting stuck when reading the DOT website. So the only main bit of paperwork is the temp. registration, then get a rego mand the same place will register it. seems a lot easier than when I was in the uk reading about it. I will keep in touch if that is ok if i get stuck THANKS
-
hi, anyone who has brought there car over, could you help with how i register etc. just trying to have a heads up as the container arrives on friday. Thanks in advance, not bothered about cost more what I do and where i need to go.
