What is actually involved in the "medicals"??

Hi Guys,

Looking for some advice or information on what I can expect during our medicals on 10th July. Me, my husband and 6 old are going to Cardiff Spire Hospital for them as requested by our case officer the other day, in preparation for our subclass 189 visa application approval.

I know that me & hubby will have chest x-rays (not my daughter) and HIV blood tests but is there anything that I need to be worried about?

Generally we are all in good health but was wondering if I need to prepare myself for something I don't already know about.

Responses would be amazing, thank you x x x

Hi. Nothing to worry about. I also went to Cardiff Spire and everything was fine. Free tea and coffee. Nothing like NHS! I had X-ray first then went in to see the doctor. Height and weight checks. Two blood tests. Checked breathing and had a good feel of my tummy. I think that was it. Oh had to do a urine sample.

The staff were excellent. The doctor was a bit officious but fine.

Coastie.

Hi coastie,

thank you so much for your reply. The only thing that worries me is the weight check. I'm not super-morbidly obese but I am overweight. Just wondering how much this will go against me. Everything else, I'll be fine on. X

Don't worry about your weight. Worst that will happen is that your medical will be referred and you will have to wait a couple of months. I have a friend who is very over weight with chronic high blood pressure and got through okay with no questions.
