Guest lewiscro
Hi, we desperately want to move to Perth but I'm not sure we fit the bill for any type of visa. I am a qualified hairdresser to nvq 3 but I don't work as a hairdresser anymore after being made redundant in 2006 a couple of months into a new job. I worked in the previous salon for 5 years. I'm now a Medical Secretary. My other half worked in construction for 9 years as a maintenance man and has a level 2 cert in basic plumbing. He has been working as a sub contractor for a commercial plumbing firm for just under a year but has just been made redundant. We have an 11 month old son. I'm not sure if we have any options. I have tried emailing most of the salons in Perth in the hope of finding a sponsor. Can anyone suggest anything or are we a lost cause? CarolineD82
Hi, I'm sorry I can't help but there will certainly be people on here who can. Have you contacted a migration agent? they usually give a free initial telephone call-go matilda seem to be a popular firm with a good reputation on here. We're using concept australia based in Manchester. I wish you luck & hope there's a way for you, best wishes, Caroline
verystormy
I just had a look at the list and see "medical administrator" is on the list. You would need to check out what this actually is and if your skills match it. Good luck.
Guest lewiscro
Hi thanks for the reply. I have spoken to one agent but we were told we would need to find a sponsor (easier said than done). We were told that the Medical Administrator bracket requires you to have a degree. I'm thinking our only option is the other half to gain further qualifications and experience in plumbing and then try again. There does seem to be a lot of hairdresser sponsorship opportunities in Melbourne, but i am not sure about living there lol. The weather doesn't look as great and we have British friends in Perth already.
verystormy
One option might be for you to do a part time degree while working. It is a long process as it would take 4 years and of course there is no guaruntee medical administrator will still be on the list. I would run your case past an alternative migration consultant to see what options you might have as i know that some proffessions can have their experience count in place of a degree. Have a chat with Go Matilda or George Lombard
