Family assistance, rent assistance, Medicare and tax file numbers

Recently arrived in butler area in a holiday let. Just been accepted on a home.

 

Can someone tell me how and where I go to set up Medicare and benefits like family assistance etc? Trying to work out via the website and I can't make sense of it

For benefits, you need centre link. To find your nearest, go here and put in your post code. It also does medicare. Though, you can register for medicare on line

You need to go into a Medicare office to register for Medicare. You can find your nearest office via the following page. http://humanservices.findnearest.com.au/

Sometimes Medicare & centrelink offices are at the same location.

Joondalup is probably your closest. Opens at 08:30, get there early otherwise queues are big.

 

you can download the medicare app form and then just take it in with your photo id and visa grant notification.

 

for family assistance you can do the claim online and just take the id into centrelink. This is probably what they will tell you to do if you go into the office, so if you dont want to do that make sure you tell them you would rather speak to someone and do the claim there and then.
