Guest Wish we were in Freo
Hiya everyone, First post of a long term lurker. Thanks for all the help/info on our migration journey so far. We are doing it independently so all your expertise has helped us so much. Sowe submitted our EOI last weekend and waited eagerly this week for an invite from WA to apply for state sponsorship. But so far....nothing! I know patience is a virture and I've read a few posts on here saying it can take a couple of weeks but I've also read lots of people's signatures showing that they had an invite within a few days. I don't even have a mail from WA to say they are looking at my application. Just the one correspondence from DIAC to say I have submitted a valid EOI. Are there any Perth Poms out there who have waited longer than a week for their SS invite out there who can reassure us? Trying to ignore this and get on with a happy family weekend but hubby and I are both worrying not so gently.... Thanks, Wish

SNarayan
Hello, I personally waited for 2 weeks and I know a lot of members in an other forum who have waited for 4 weeks before getting their invite. i believe it depends on a lot of factors such as occupation, points, country and occupational limit. keep in mind that invitations are issued by wa only once a week (normally on a Thursday)
Ala
I submitted my application before 13 days and nothing yet, so don't worry and wait with us. Keep us updated
Guest R2A
Hi all, I got registered to this forum today and i'm overly excited to be a part of this discussion. My case is pretty new one. So i'm not sure whether i'm posting my query in the right thread...(please excuse!)...My story goes like this.. I had appeared for IELTS exam (second attempt) in Jan 2013 and got the following scores L8.5, R8, W6.5, S6.5 and 7.5 overall. I wanted to apply for ICT security specialist profile. But initially due to my low scores i was not able to apply. Recently (in the month of Oct'13), i got to know that i can qualify SA state sponsorship as they require 6.5 in all bands. I have over 8 years of experience and my total points come to be 60 (if i get state sponsorship 190 visa) & 65 if go for 489 visa. Also, recently my agent confirmed that i can now also go for WA state sponsorship as they have started considering people with 6 in all bands with effect from 5th November 2013. I have gone for ACS skills assessment on 23rd Oct'13 (second time as my first assessment's results have expired). Now i need to know few things: 1. As this is a second assessment of my profile (ICT security specialist), is it still going to take 12-13 weeks? Please note that in the second assessment, i have added my new company details with whom i have spent 2.25 years now. 2. My profile ICT security specialist falls in the schedule 2 of WASMOL. So does that mean i need to have a job offer in hand prior to going for 489 visa? 3. Is there a likelihood that the quota for my profile gets exhausted by the time i get my skills assessed? Please advise! Thanks in advance for going through my story...

sunflower
Hi, We are also waiting for WA SS. We applied on 1st Nov. When waiting for the sponsorship, we are preparing the documents needed for 190 application. Now we've come across a big hurdle: PCC. We already took the one from Turkey. But we have to get one from Qatar for both of us and Dubai for my husband. Qatar gives pcc in 4 months! I hope it will be less than that. So depressing So we keep waiting... Good luck to all Tuba
Jupiter
I have submitted my EOI on Thursday evening ( it was Friday already in WA ), so on 15th of November. I have waited one week, and today I received an initial contact from WA which is NOT an invitation to apply for SS. Is it usually ? I think I haven`t seen anyone got this before. "Please be advised that your EOI was viewed by The Government of Western Australia as they are interested in contacting you. Initial contact Your Expression of Interest is being considered by the Government of Western Australia. This is not an invitation to apply for State nomination. If you are eligible for an invitation you will be contacted by email. Information on Western Australian State nomination is available at www.migration.wa.gov.au/skilledmigration " I have a deadline - end of December to get the SS, so I am really anxious. Did you all get the initial contact ? Did anyone get an invitation today ?
nikkiwd
yes you get initial contact Jupiter, then the invite usually comes a day or two later. What occupation are you applying under? x
Jupiter
Got the invitation , 2 hours after the initial contact ! Can`t believe it ! NATTI Translator. Today is a big religious holiday for Orthodox Christians , and my Patron Saint, we celebrate it every year. God has looked at me, that is the only explanation, when I see how many people are still waiting after three, four weeks. Hope that WA will speed up the process for all of us. Good luck to everyone. Jupiter
Just applied for WA SS. Did the test with 90 %, 60 % and 80 % . Living in WA was only 60 %. Could it be a problem ? I am surprised that I did not have to send my CV or Work reference, Uni degree, nor a bank statement. I didn`t need to put my SS nomination number although they have emphasized in their e-mail that I need to write it in my SS application. Now the wait...fingers crossed for all of us. Did anyone get the invitation today ? Maybe applied for SS ?
nikkiwd
Thats good news for you Jupiter, so you managed to get around those idiots at TRA and apply under a different occupation! the state nomination application and test is easy, I don't think it lets you complete the test if score is too low so 60% must be ok if it let you through to the end. I do think its strange that they dont ask for proof of settlement funds but hey ho...You will have to upload all the evidence of the points you are claiming onto the actual visa application when you get it. Good luck and hope you don't wait too long for the invite x
Jupiter
Thanks Nikkwid I have had 3 NAATI assessments since 2011., but it never occurred to me to apply as an Interpreter or Translator. I was really lucky and even got VIC SS, as an Interpreter within 24 hours, without submitting an EOI. I have a deadline to make an EOI as an Interpreter and send the number to VIC, by the end of December. Everything changed when I saw that WA SS has published a new list, with occupation Translator on it. I decided to take the risk, make an EOI as a Translator and pray to get WA SS. So far so good. I am pregnant and we have friends in Perth, so I would really like to move there. If I don`t get a positive outcome until the end of December, I would have to change my occupation in my EOI and tick VIC and move to Melbourne. GMAC
Hi All, Has anyone heard anything regarding their EOI?????????
Jupiter
Since you haven`t got the initial contact and the link to apply for WA SS, and you have been waiting for a long time, I suggest you send them an e-mail. That is what I did. As soon as I made an EOI, I have contacted WA and asked for their processing times when EOIs are concerned. Maybe there is a mistake with your EOI, they can`t see it, or who knows what. Good luck.
weaz
Current EOI processing times for WA is +-30 days... Patience is required
siddharth
Hi everyone, I had submitted my EOI on october 23rd 2013 for 190 subclass for the occupation of community welfare. I have not heard anything from WA is anyone in the same situation. usually how long we have to wait approximate time. Is there any other way to approach WA skilled migration. Appreciate if anyone would share experience
Jupiter
You should have heard something by now. If you don`t hear anything tomorrow, then call them, and give them your reference number. A lot of people who applied at the end of October and beginning of November, got their contracts this Tuesday, so they must have misplaced your file somewhere . I am waiting as well, applied on November the 21st, hope to get the contract next week.
SNarayan
Hi guys, Just a tip with regards to your Eoi. Make sure you only select 190 and select wa as your sponsoring state. They might only consider those EOIs. So if you have not done that in your Eoi yet, please correct it. There is also a news about it on wa's official website.
