Danihunt1980
Hey everyone, we are booking our flights today and just wondered if anyone that has flown with small children can help? Do you think its better to fly in the morning or late at night?
portlaunay
I'm not sure it matters. We've flown at all times and all I know is that my kids care not for anything but their iPads and pens and paper. I also know that whenever we fly, no matter what time, I feel like dog do for 3 days and they shrug it off after one sleep.

Danihunt1980
We go in February and they will be 5 and 3 by then. Think the am one will probably be better as they wont be tired from being up all day. If we stay in a hotel the night before near airport we will hopefully be refreshed before the long flight:) and it lands in the day in Perth too as totally agree with you thesteels first impressions really matter. Just booked our holiday home for when we get there for a month. Didnt think it would be so hard to make a decision as you want it to be right. Now that and the flights are booked can just look forward to our adventure

Plimthing
We flew at 11am to Kuala lumpar for 11.5 hours with a 18 month old and a 5 year old. Youngest had a vomitting bug and the other an ear infection. All was great, she slept most of the way, only waking to throw up over Malaysians brand new aeroplane. The other one didnt complain, bless her. We are now dependant on valium. Next we fly to dubai at 2pm arrive at 9pm, just short of 3 hrs wait, then 10hrs to Perth. It should all fit in to their natural sleep thing except it will be late afternoon when we get to oz. Hopefully they will be excited and wear themselves out. No matter how you prepare something always suprises you, sometimes for better sometimes worse. Just roll with it and laugh when looking back... lozzachino
We got a night flight to singapore with an almost 3 year old. Flight left 8:30pm. He fell asleep around 11pm and slept for about 6 hours. Was pretty well behaved and a few people commented on it which was nice! Second leg was from singapore with a 2.5 hr stop over, just enough time to shower, change, buy a couple of toys with our free singapore dollars for transiting, to keep him amused on the second flight, which was due to leave around 6:30 pm and arrive at perth just before midnight. We missed our takeoff slot and ended up sitting waiting on the ground for an hour before we took off. DS fell asleep before we took off and slept through take off, for about 3.5 hrs. Got to our rental around 2am and everyone crashed for the night, woke up around 11am. OH and DS were tired for a few days but i didnt feel like i had any jet lag and would definitely do it this way again. I dont think first impressions will matter when you are knackered, and if you arrive in the morning, you have to stay awake all day otherwise your body clocks will be all out. Thats what happened to my oh when he arrived at 6am last time. Might make jet lag feel worse and last longer.
thesteels
Hi Dani, Wheere abouts will you be staying for the first month, we have friends in Perth htey did offer to put us up but it would be too much with an extra 4 people so we are staying in Wembley Lakes which is quite close to our friends but I do agree really hard to decide on where to stay because again if you dont like the place you are staying at it could effect your whole decision of being there if you are having a bday day!! Good luck with everything and I am sure it will be everything you want and more. Bal x
Danihunt1980
Hi Bal, we are staying in Tapping which is not far from Carramar and Jonnalup. Same as us we have friends in Iluka that offered for us to stay which was so nice but my hubby thinks it would be too much and best to stand on our own two feet. I am just hoping that is enough time to find somewhere. Tapping sounds great and the school is supposed to be great thats what made us decide to take the holiday home as makes more sense being in the area you think you might want to settle. When do you move? Ours is February which I'm sure will come round very quickly. So exciting!!!
Plimthing
We are staying with relatives until we find a rental! Could be a day could be..... best not to think! I start work the following week so i will be straight into the swing of things, and earning, which is nice. I like the sound of fortnightly pay! Hopefully Emirates are just as good as Malaysian airlines. They used to be, 8 years ago when i worked for them!
