portlaunay
I'd be terrified of taking off or landing in this. I usually take my kids to the beach on evenings like this. I love feeling scared and vulnerable and they're the same. We're incredibly lucky that we can simply retreat indoors where it's warm and dry. sunset addict
And its St Swithins day which as you know means the Uk are going to have a brilliant summer as it was fine today so they are good for 60 days at least! I am scared to death of these winds lashing Perth today , feels like the roofs coming off and well as for the rain OMG, just moved here a month ago and not impressed with going through 2 winters ! Ha Ha . But seriously its a bit chilly in this cavernous open plan rental, and I promptly went down with flu and bronchitis 10 day in to my life in the sun! could only happen to me, but I don't begrudge the poor old pasty Brits a good summer god knows they are due one. amck2424
We just arrived Saturday - wish I was back in the uk right now - the only thing we can research right now is indoor play zones with the kids - I am so sick of that as that is all we do in the uk - please tell me this is not normal - knowing my luck the weather will get worse here ! Yes it's perfectly normal and yes it could get worse. Perth has more annual rainfall than Manchester and it is all condensed into a much shorter timeframe. Yes you get lovely winters days here in Perth but you also get days like yesterday.

Just be patient in a couple of weeks it will warm up and you will be too hot most prob. Last summer was a scorcher 40 degs for a couple of days at a time. Two weeks ago I sat on the beach with a friend if I didnt have sun cream my face and arms on I would have burnt. The weather will come soon enough I find this is respite time and Ive only been here a year end of the month.
Bibbs
It's winter! It'll be like this till November. Cold, wet and sunny. Then from December for 3 months it'll be hot, dry and sunny. The suff inbetween winter and summer is warm, occasionally wet and sunny. You missed a good storm by a few years :- and the was Perth people treat it :- Edited July 17, 2013 by Bibbs
StraighttothePoint
It's funny how we all view the weather differently. I like change and varying types of weather even if they that all comes in one day!! Long endless spells of anything just get boring. Also weather patterns all over the world have been / are changing and so it is pretty difficult to predict anything now with any accuracy I would have thought. Extreme things happen almost anytime in Perth now and cold spells run on into months we did not expect them to as do hot days. One thing though, as Bibbs says, it is winter in Perth and so there should be no surpirses as to storms and wet weather. Also, and you can be pretty sure about this, when it gets too hot there, and just keeps on going, then there will be lot's of folk moaning about that as well!! Guest guest9824
Hoping everyone kept safe last night, it was quite bad up here in the hills with the rain and wind! Not sure how bad it was for others, but I know the south got a hammering. Still we need the rain desparately. Garden is looking very green at the moment though and the Kookies love a bit of rain! pea
