NicNox85
Hello Everybody...... My name is Nicola and I am from Guildford in Surrey, I am a Registered Nurse since September 2012. I am 28 years and am hoping to emigrate to Perth in early 2015. I have chosen Perth as I hope it has an outdoor lifestyle that I love (I love being on the water) I would like to have the opportunity to learn new sports and make new friends along the way, as well as have better career oppoetunities. Those are my reasons, I was just wondering why other people chose Perth instead of other places in Australia If you want to say Hi amd chat that would be great. ali
For us it was the Mediterranean type climate that Perth offered and that it was the least populated state.
Nic964
For us, that was where the work was. We were open, and just went where the first good job got offered. Now were here, well there are many things 1) Weather. its winter here, and days are still sunny and arouns 20 deg.C 2) The sea. were 10 minutes from Rockingham, and many lovely sandy beaches to walk on. 3) Freemantle, Margaret River, Mandaurah, many lovely places to go to, great food available, great wines. 4) Space. In comparison with the UK, we've got a large plot (800m2) with trees etc. We sit outside watch the brightly coloured birds, and just relax. I'm sure others will comment as well, but thats our take. Just coming up to our 1st anniversary, and keep being asked "when are you going back to the UK for a holiday?" My answer - why, I"ve got everything here. Bobopaulsy
I have a young family and i decided that i wanted a better "outdoor" life for them....my household at the moment has 3 iphones, 3 ipad's, a Nintendo Wii, XBOX360, 2 laptops, 1 android tablet...... Most of which have all come in via xmas / birthday presents etc.... I love being outside and want my kids to experience what i did as a youngster..... So...climate and more relaxed lifestyle is what i'm hoping for when i arrive in Autumn (uk autumn) lol
Candygirl
We live in Spain, so the Med climate will be same. We liked the friendliness of the people, the cleanliness of the streets, there is a vibe, but still retains a relaxed lifestyle. Proximity to Asia and shorter flight time for Rellies to visit. portlaunay
We'd never been to Oz. Mrs p was offered a job here so we packed up and jumped in. Why Perth? Because it feels like home.

oz bound pom
Why Perth? Why not? My wife spent 15yrs there and although it's been a while since she lived there we are hoping to emigrate in the next few months. She's the first to admit a lot has changed in 10yrs since she moved away but thinks our son will have a great childhood there. However there are drawbacks to living there (just as there is everywhere) and if you get the chance I'd definitly suggest a good long holiday over there but try and not just treat it as a holiday, rose tinted sunglasses and all. Depending what type of lifestyle you live in the UK, how close you are to family and friends etc, there are lots of places closer to blightly that you can indulge in the outdoor lifestyle and watersports! If you want to give it a go and don't have much to lose if you find out its not for you then go for it, research it well though, it's not all 'Wanted down under!' Good luck! travelchic
I chose Perth because I am migrating as a single parent and I have friends there for support. I wouldn't have been troubled by this but worry that if something happens to me my little boy will have someone to care for him whilst there. claudiodr
Well we were initially looking at Canberra as my skills were only on the ACT CSOL. Then I had had to change my occupation with VETASSESS and all of a sudden I had the option of ACT or WA...the rest, as they say, is history! We're looking forward to: The Outdoor lifestyle (being Saffas this is what I was brought up on and what I want for my children) Living by the coast (and what better coast than the warm Indian Ocean) Being an 11hr flightfrom Friends and family in Joburg (rather than 16hrs living on the east coast) Having a house with a garden in the burbs once I'm done with the city:-)
Nikkis2000
Hiya, My OH has a lot of family over in Perth which was the main factor but like many of the others here it was also a combination of weather, lifestyle, space, adventure and life is too short not to try! Guest vegastomelbourne
I am a licensed dentist in the US. I chose Perth because of the job opportunities (Public Health Scheme) and the outdoor lifestyle. Cheers to all.
Rossmoyne
My Mum and Dad blazed the trail in the 1960's and now my entire family have followed them and call Perth home. I had travelled around Oz for a couple of years when I was in my early 20's and loved Perth the best, so when I was left on my own 23 years ago with 2 small children, it was the obvious choice. Best decision I ever made.
