Bobopaulsy
Guys, just a wee bit of info required....we are just finalising most things over the next 6 weeks hopefully to be coming out end September all being well...... Can i ask who arrange accom before arriving, through who and example costs if poss !!!! We have no family in Oz, no friends lol and i do mean that in the nicest way as we've no "close" friends who we've known for years to stay with... So basically when we leave Scotland we ideally need to have somewhere for the 5 of us... Any guidance gratefully accepted !
jamesw
A lot of people book a holiday let, take a look at http://www.stayz.com.au for example. Find somewhere either in the area you may want to settle or somewhere central so you can travel to both north and south of the region
portlaunay
We used Stayz and as a result paid around $300 pw more than if we'd rented through an agent! Just sayin.

Candygirl
We have a short term apartment booked through www.airbnb.com for 29 nights in Yorkine at a cost of $2300. We could have got cheaper, but we wanted to be central and very near the CBD for paperwork etc.
StraighttothePoint
My advice would be, like Candy, to try and stay centrally on arrival, maybe even near the CBD, because that way you will be close to everything you will need as you undergo set up. It will save all the hassle of trekking into the city to do all the basics and also let you travel north and south equally easily as you search out what you need in terms of somewhere more permanent to stay, jobs locations and so on. lozzachino
We didnt need to do anything in the city when we arrived so dont let that sway you. However being fairly central will allow you to consider and view areas both nor and sor much easier than if you chose a rental further north or south. if your wife has work already that will make it a lot easier to narrow your focus. ali
It's a long time ago since we came here, but we managed to get a private rental via a migration website (that doesn't operate now I think). We took the rental for 12 weeks and they negotiated a reduced rent - we paid over $600 a week which included all the bills, the use of a car and internet
