Maria
Hi, Just wondering if anyone can help!! We will be landing in perth at the end of September! We will be needing two car seats, one for a 4 year old one for a two year old! Iv had a look around on Aussie websites, and is it just me or is it ten times harder to pick one over there? maybe it is because I had a general knowledge of good ones here, but I'm baffled! So if any one has any recommendation's or perhaps selling any decent one's on, I would be delighted! Thanks Mariax
portlaunay
There's an Aussie standard, much like the BS standard so anything you buy from a reputable retailer should comply with the requirements. It's against the law to supply new or used, a seat that does not meet the standard. I'd still be cautious about buying s/h though. Kmart and Target are probably pretty good start points and maybe BigW.

That's what we did then bought some from Target, they were only about $60 each.

Thanks Mariax Hi Maria, This is a subject I am quite passionate about, (my 19month old still rear faces as she isn't out of the weight range for the seat) Have a look on this site http://www.kidsafewa.com.au/childcarrestraints.html some really helpful info, and when I find the site that gives you a run down of how car seats faired in safety tests I will post that link too. We will be hiring a car once we get there and will hire car seats too. The other link: http://www.crep.com.au/crep-results.php Hope these help Neenie Edited August 2, 2013 by neenie Adding a link
Maria
Hi, thanks for advice, I will need to do more home work! suppose I'm stressing a little, I've only recently passed my driving test, an the thought of me driving in a different country ( which seems to have a bit of a rep for bad drivers) while having my little " angels" in the back, is making me really conscious of getting the best seats I can! portlauney, that's such a good point about it being illegal to sell seats that don't meet required safety standards, it's obvious really just never thought of it that way, although I must say I have seen some dodgy looking restraints on the au eBay!! FrankieB When we first arrive we will be staying with the in laws and will maybe possibly have use of their car (if they let me drive will be another matter haha) so was looking at getting something before we land that can be used when they pick us up at airport. theyve not really had kids around since there own where little so not really clued up on these things! great tip about target though, had a look and one that rates high on the creep report which neenie has mentioned is stocked there! Neenie, Thanks, I need to take a little more time an have a look at the links you have provided, but at a glance they look really helpful! i too kept both girls in their first rear facing seat for as long as possible. I think that larger rear facing seats are becoming a little more popular here but not seen many and none in oz yet?! Hope you find ones that meet your requirements. Although there doesn't seem to be a lot that get top marks in crep report, hopefully that's just because its a really tough report! thanks to you all again it really is appreciated!, mariax
