Rosshf
Hi It's my wedding anniversary next Saturday and being an amazing romantic (and wanting to notch up those brownie points) I'm taking my wife out for dinner. Can anyone recommend a good quality restaurant in the northern suburbs for a special occasion? My wife thinks there aren't any great restaurants like we got back home, but I want to show her there are. Cheers Ross

Guest guest9824
...Ive heard theres a chippy opening soon:biggrin:...candlelit fish supper, very romantic! Sorry I cant be of any further help Ross, only places I have ever eaten ooop north (not posh places) is the Boat at Mindarie and places at Hillarys Hippos Creek etc...ok, but nothing to write home about. Best going to the dark side and venturing into the city or Crown for something a bit more special. Hope you have a full wallet! Happy anniversary! verystormy
Mmm. Well, you have left it a little late for booking. My first choice would be Amuse. But, I think you will struggle for a booking. Next would be Nobu at the casino. If you have never heard of it, it is a spin off of a famous London restaurant. Very good. Maybe slightly more romantic and you should get a booking if you act now. The new champers bar there is also a nice place for a pre dinner drink. Tip. Make sure you order the black cod. To be honest, I can't think of anywhere else I would personally recommend. Budget for both is about $400 for a couple including wine, though not pre or post dinner drinks. Stormy, do they do my ole favourite 'consomme of dolphins tear' (thanks Porty for that one) there at Noboff...I mean Nobu? Sorry Stormy its just too posh for pea! I am so very uncultured! I would say that the Entertainment book has just sent me an invite to the french blokeys restaurant Brahimis place, 5 course dinner with wine for $115.00 per person, blue swimmer crab sarnies served on the patio(no thats not a type of flashy bread) with champers for entree!!! Scallops, then fillet of beef, and pears for dessert served with a port! Sounds yummmm but only limited places on 20th August at 7.00pm....all the family is available that night VS if you feel like treating us!!!! I've eaten at the Boat a couple of time, and go to Mindarie a fair bit so was looking for something a bit different to prove my wife wrong about perth restaurants! Thanks for replying tho ;-) Ross

Thanks Stormy -- I'll have a look. Went to Breakwater at Hillarys once for dinner, nothing special, but it was the best part of $400 for an average meal by time we factored in a taxi, drinks, drinks and the meal. Oh and the parking ticket got for leaving my car there in the wrong spot overnight. Ross
Rosshf
Amuse is shut until August 21. Looks like I'm not going to be Amused. I'll get my coat
Arwen
Mullaloo Beach Hotel is good, it isn't michelin star food but nice and not too pricy. Jason's Wine Bar in Joondalup also nice IMO.
Sarah1975
We've been to Primo Cucina quite a few times, the food has always been very good and it's BYO! It's located on Flinders Avenue, Hillarys. It gets quite busy so advisable to book. We haven't been yet but Oscars at Currambine is supposed to be very highly rated. If you really want to push the boat out and like good steak then The Rockpool at Crown Perth is fantastic, my husband took me there for my birthday and we stayed the night. It was a fantastic although pricey evening Hope you and your wife have a great evening wherever you end up going Sarah
StraighttothePoint
Anything that involves formica tables and BYO for a wedding anniversary is just soooooooooooooooooo tacky
portlaunay
Anything that involves formica tables and BYO for a wedding anniversary is just soooooooooooooooooo tacky I'd deliberately seek out a restaurant with formica tables for our anniversary. I'd want the chairs to be fixed to the table too, even better if they're in little booths and sauce in little tomato shaped bottles with green stalk spouts on the table too. If the menu was laminated with little pictures of resin cast food to tempt you even better. The floor should be tacky in places and the plates off white with double cadet stripes running around the outside. I tell ya, I spoil mrs p rotten I do. Jen_PFR
Shame you're limiting it to northern suburbs. Bistro Guillaume at Crown Casino is lovely: http://bistroguillaumeperth.com.au/ Had lunch there with our closest friends and it was really nice. It's perfect for a special dinner. Jen_PFR
Oooh, I've just remembered, there's Clarke's of North Beach as well. However they only do a degustation menu on Saturdays: http://www.clarkesofnorthbeach.com.au/ Very nice food.
verystormy
If Amuse is closed, the I stand by my other option. Nobu. The Printhall on st georges Tce is a nice looking place. Wasn't over impressed with the food. But very nice place. I would avoid c restaurant like the plague.
ali
We had a very nice meal at the C restaurant, the food was excellent and it's had other good reviews from members here - obviously our opinions differ
