GMAC
I just wanted to know how everyone felt or is feeling being the main visa applicant and the pressure you feel in trying to make your family (OH, me and two young boys) dreams come true? I am a maintenance plumber and bricking my VETASSESS, got my IELTS test this Saturday (second time). Does anyone feel or had felt the same? Joeybee
I'm the main applicant. I did feel pressure when taking the IELTS as I realised it was basically down to me to get the marks or we'd have to rethink our whole plans! I'm slightly nervous about the health check too, i couldn't imagine doing all the assessment process and visa paperwork and then not passing the health check! Although my husband (the 'dependant') seems to be taking the whole visa process in his stride and not really worrying about all the niggly little problems....I'm slightly jealous of him! Nikkis2000
Funny that this topic has come up this week. I thought I'd been managing fine taking control of everything. Weirdly though since things calmed down after getting the visa I went into a bit of a decline. It's taken me a couple of weeks but I realised yesterday that I'm suffering from stress! I don't just mean had a bad day, arrrgggh kind of stressed. I mean proper doctor signing you off type of stress. For a while I thought I was just being a fat, lazy heifer as i didn't have the energy to do anything, was constantly tired (even on the odd occasion i got a good night's sleep) and was drinking far too much - but it turns out I was just going a bit mental instead! In a strange way it makes me happy that I know I'm stressed cos now I can do something about it -A girl's never had a better excuse to arrange a pamper session!! I'm developed a serious case of OCD cause now have to triple check everything I do and check once more just to be sure.lol I've now made a list of all things to do not related to Australia to start as we've just done medicals and its out of my hands now, so I'm sitting here with a little glass of vino, got a pamper day booked tomorrow and have a couple of glasses of champs with a great friend and start on my to do list on sat.. Starting with the garden where there's no checks and hopefully get back to some sort of normality... I posted a long time ago about the time we all get to oz we'll either be raving lunatics or mad alcoholics so not far off the mark;) get your pamper day booked and enjoy it.x

Nikki, I always said you left me feeling like a snail! When I say you are a crazy lady, I mean it it the nicest possible terms! I hope the stress goes and you feel your usual vibrant self soon. I had my stress earlier in the process and am currently enjoying a calm spell, long may it last! So that is probably until Tuesday then, ha ha... ImmilBees
Yeah I know where you're coming from. I'm feeling it as although I'm up for the move and the new life, essentially it's my husbands dream, but I'm the one that can make it come true! As it's my visa we're trying to go on! Just trying to sort out skills assessments, IELTS, knowing what documentation is stress enough. Hopefully as someone said once the visa is granted it calms down. And then after that it can be a shared stress over saving money, finding locations to settle and general re location stuff. X
donnachivers
Yes i agree. Its really hard. As the main applicant, and woman of the house, Ive felt the pressure over everything! Starting visa process, arranging everything, agents, ielts, medicals, sorting dog, shipping, sorting house out, cleaning house and taking photos as our agents useless...and the list continues!!! Nikkis2000
What a difference a year can make! Having come out the other side though I can confirm that it's all very worth going through it. Though I think the damage may be done as far as my alcohol habit is concerned!!! Clearly i like certain amount of stress in my life because as soon as we got settled we started the building process! I may buy just some shares in Jacobs Creek!!
