portlaunay
We've a friend who's heading back to Blighty and as she's in no hurry, she's going by boat. I hate air travel; the whole experience, everything about it just screams cattle truck, it's hideous. I love the train and sea travel. Maybe my perspective is romantically nostalgic but both seem such salubrious ways to travel, an opportunity for someone else to worry about navigation, speed traps, timing, traffic. So, for those of you about to make the move to Oz and maybe those of you here and about to embark on an epic journey, what's your preferred mode of transport? Forget the time pressures and money for a moment, if you had the choice would it be; 1. Air travel direct/single stop 2. Ocean liner with several stops on the way 3. Epic Train trip as far as is possible 4. Epic car journey 5. Star Trek Transporter - here in a moment

I like to cram as much into a trip as possible, so flying to different destinations with a few days in each is my kind of trip. I haven't been on a cruise, however, for the same reasons I think I may really enjoy one; waking up in a different place every other day. Bibbs
I know of a couple who did the 4x4 thing. Think they planned a 9 month drive down to Sing, and then boat over. They perpaired thier truck over the year before they left. Never heard from them again though.

Nikkis2000
Number 5 (or I'll share the Tardis with Jackboots). Hey if we used the Tardis we could all get there at the same time - plenty of room!

verystormy
Cruise. I fly so much now i cant abide the thought of having to do it outside of work. You can do portions of a world cruise on most ships and many do
Plimthing
my old vw splitscreen van, ipod full of tunes, two cans of spare fuel, fridge full of beer, Kelly brook and holly willoghby, or my wife if the other two are busy. If you are wondering why Kelly and holly, my van doesn't have air bags....... Edited August 15, 2013 by Plimthing
