Rossmoyne
We have a family of little Guekkos ( tiny lizards) who live in the garden and sometimes wander in if the screen door has been left open. Don't mind them at all as they eat the little insects. My woofer is fascinated by them and watches them darting around for ages.... moggie though thinks they are fair game and "meals on legs" so I have to separate them some times..... Akasully2
I love those little geckos. So cute!
Akasully2
New question.... I have always wanted to have a tweed/wool jacket, kind of country style hunting jacket. I guess they would be even dearer in Perth so I am comtemplating getting one in the sales before I leave. They are dear but it would last for years, as long as I can still fit in it! However, would I Wear one over there? From what I can tell it is either very warm or cool and wet, so not sure if it would be appropriate. Seems to be all fleeces and light weight waterproofs. What do you think? To buy or not to buy, that is the question!
Sideshowdeb
I can't comment on the weather yet, but it's so British, I think you should take one purely for that reason alone! I love them but they don't suit me at all. If you can carry it off, I'm sure you'll find a time to wear it. Deb x
Akasully2
Yes, that's why I like them! I fell in love with a tweed flat cap just before Christmas. I kept trying it on and putting it back. Eventually my friend said I should get it because it suited me and there was plenty of cold weather before I went to Oz. Anyway, I bought it and love it! All I need is the jacket and a pair of jodhpurs and they will think I'm farmer Giles!
Sideshowdeb
I love that look! If you choose a fairly lightweight jacket, I bet you'll get lots of wear out of it x
Akasully2
Debs, you've got me researching them between reading these threads! Just found a stunning light weight one that actually matches my cap! It was meant to be. I think I can even get it for 20% off.

portlaunay
Part of my wardrobe is 'English country gentleman' and I got married in tweed. Get one and then join us in November on the annual Tweed Ride; http://www.perthvintagecycles.com/2013/11/fremantle-tweed-run-2013-ride.html
Akasully2
Love the tweed but my new mountain bike would look completely out of place. Also as I'm a bit wobbly and can't do corners very well yet, I would need to wear a tweed covered helmet!
Akasully2
New question... In Oz what measuring system do they use? I know you have km for roads but how about for other stuff? Do they say 8" or 20cm? How about clothes, 38" chest or size 14 or cm or something else? Is it like the UK when we tend to use a bit of each? Why I was thinking about this when I should have sleeping is an indication of my anxiety about the pending move. Masses of clearing out to do but instead I think about this stuff. It is all seeming very real now. It is like I have been queuing up to go on an amazing, very popular theme park ride. The queue was massive and it never felt like we were ever going to get to the front. Loads of people gave up and left but we stayed. I am now at the front, we have paid the money and we are the next ones to get on. I feel excited but nervous too. We could turn round and leave but that is not really something we would consider. I look back at those who have just joined the queue and know they must wish they were in our position so I feel lucky to be here. Just need to step on, get strapped in and enjoy the ride. Up close the ride looks scary though, much bigger than from the back of the queue. Just have to remind myself of all the people who did the ride and got off the other side. They said it was fantastic and have no regrets. Just keep calm and carry on! Edited March 2, 2014 by Akasully2 Too many nots

Sorry but I laughed so hard when I read this....it was exactly what I thought when it was me and the kids going through it all! We use the metric system for everything from weight... length.. height.... even your bra size will be metric! Well sort of!

We use the metric system for everything from weight... length.. height.... even your bra size will be metric! Well sort of! I'd better go a re-measure everything then, including my bra! I'm 5'5" (height, not bra size) so will need to be familiar with what I am now. I'm glad you laughed at my predicament. Reassuring in a crazy way. Just hope I will be laughing 'on the other side' too. x
poxonfamily
I remember being asked how tall I was and what my weight was and I had no clue in metric...... even shopping for OH's shirts (collar size) and 'pants' for work was a nightmare..... I kept having to times the inches by 2.5 and hope for the best!! :smile2:
Akasully2
Nightmare! I have got used to measuring the kids in cm because that is how I buy their clothes. My mum asks me how tall they are and she asks, What is that in feet & inches? ..no idea! As for me...no idea in cm. This is what happens when you are a child of the 70's, you have a bit of each. When I bake I do it in ounces, when I buy food I do it in metric. OH gets annoyed because shops tell you in cm but he says in should be in mm because it was a European directive or something or other! ROB T
There are more nail bars in and around Perth than you could shake a stick at....... Most larger shopping centres have at least two or three to choose from as well. They do a pretty good job also, or at least that's what my good lady tells me.
